Everybody seems to think this is a good oil, but my search shows it's for diesel engines.
Am I looking at the wrong stuff?

Yep, that is the right oil. The major market for the oil is diesel engines. Just so happens that the specs for it also meet our requirements.

Hey Paul, doing well for an old rider. Thanks for asking, and yep, still turning a Spyder wheel, still enjoying it.

I've used it on 2010, 2016, and now our current 2021's. This past summer was the first full summer with the '21's and they performed flawlessly for a little over 5000 miles til the snow started flying. I changed oil early November and continuing with Rotella. I did not send any samples anywhere based on what I've read here on the site, and my own experience.

I've been using both the 5/40 and 15/40 T6 for some 20+ years, in my 99 24valve Cummins, vintage and newer Harleys, BMW cycles, Japanese bikes, and a half dozen classic cars and hot rods along with my current Spyder. All with great results. I was pointed in this direction by a buddy who is a drag racer, and high end automotive machinist that has been in the business for some 60 years. He builds and works on all different kinds of vehicles. Breaks them down, has the oil checked, examine's bearings and pistons for wear. He tells me it's all he use's, which is good enough for me. Will say I add Zinc for my classics with flat tappet cams. Recent problem has been availability. Not sure why, but I now keep around 20 gallons on hand, when my local sources and Amazon can't deliver. Have even had to buy it in 5 gallon buckets on occasion, which is cheaper

Good stuff, love the T6, seems to work for me, so I stay with it. Just curious of the 15/40 might be a bit heavy for the Rotax 1330?

I personally would not think it would be a problem, but in my case, I live outside of Death Valley and ride in a lot of extreme heat.

I see your point, I could probably use it in Florida as well.

    Default Current Rotella T6

I see Rotella T6 has dropped the API-SM and is JASO MA/MA2 so does that now make it OK to run in my wife's 2012 RT SE5?

I know, I know oil thread but think of it as not another "What do you use" type thread. I use Rotella in my Victory Cross Country, Triumph Rocket 3 and Artic Cat Sport Limited and would like to carry on the tradition in her Spyder.

IMHO the MA/MA2 rating ( which is the highest rating for oil ) makes it great for all Spyders ..... Mike

The 2013 STS was an SM-Manual. Clutch operated flawlessly with T6.
The F3Ts are SE-Semi auto. Again the clutches operate flawlessly.
T6 is my oil of choice for my Spyders.

Thanks everyone, I'll get some today. Maybe the 15w-40 is more sheer stable..

No experience with it on a spyder/ryker, but I used that oil for years in my turbocharged & supercharged honda s2000. Its good stuff, and cheap at walmart.

I know fresh change and new filter make a difference, but the Spyder has never shifted so smooth!!!
