Default How many miles is average for brake pads?

2015 F3's---mostly short trips approx. 10K miles--I am somewhat easy on braking--still running the original rear tire. Hard to tell the brake pads condition w/o removing calipers. Braking is fine without noise--just looking for average rider estimate. Thank you kindly.

I am an anomaly on this issue. I have always gotten more miles than what most reported on this forum .... I currently over 42,000 mi. on my rear pads, these are EBC pads I bought from Ron in June of 2017.... And I got 43,000mi from the front BRP pads ..... I don't engine Brake, I do downshift in the twistie's to stay in the power band..... Most dealers do not look at your pads if you ask "do I need new pads" and you have 20,000mi. .... the ONLY way to know for sure is to Measure them. I bought an $ 8.00 digital caliper at Harbor Freight, it has saved me a lot of money .... Good Luck ... Mike ...PS, very few highway miles

This is gonna vary for every rider out there.... Someone who travels the freeways goes forever and someone who canyon carves may only get 10-15K on them... I hated the stock pads so they got nixed early on.. I second the recommendation for EBC's.... Though with all backroads strafing, I wore them out at 18K on the clock (6K of that was the OE before I pulled them off).... So, 12K for me but my wingman had 48-50K on his OE cuz he used to go Cross Country a lot...

You CAN see the pads with a mirror and light... There is a groove cut into them, down the center, and when that groove is gone there is 2MM or so left and should be replaced. I always replace well in advance of that cuz I use the brakes harder than most...
