Default New To me RS-S police bike 2010 - what to check after storage?

Greetings, I recently purchased a 2010 Spyder RSS it only has 3200 miles on it but it is been sitting in storage for over six years. Other than the obvious things: tires, oil change, check fluids, etc. etc. is there anything else we should be concerned with before we try to fire it up?

Add oil filter ( look at BajaRon's Ad here on HOME ) .... If at all possible drain the GAS tank and put in some 87Oct. ( ethyl free if you can ) & add some SeaFoam ....... AND the battery is likely dead - you can try to jump start with your car or trk battery ...just don't have that engine running ..... good luck ... Mike

Sitting that long double check for critters & damaged wires. Run the VIN for recalls & history, maybe grease appropriate areas A-arms, belt might need attention (conditioning)

If you truly got a police model, very cool. Rumor was these are superior to the general public machines.

With minimal effort it should be a nice ride.
If it were mine, based on what you mentioned of it sitting for more than six years, start fresh. New Yuasa battery, spark plugs and wires since those V twins are known to have short life on those items, purchase the correct size silicone vacuum hose and replace the two vacuum hoses that are known issues, flush and bleed the brakes, if a manual transmission, flush and bleed the clutch hydraulics, depending upon the fuels remaining amount and condition, you might just add some fresh 93 octane to overcome the old fuels phase separation, or in a worse case, drain it and refill with fresh 93.

Get it running, fully warmed up, then do an oil and filter change. Be cautious of the fasteners that secure the oil filter housing, they used different lengths, and improperly reinstalled can pull the threads out of the engine case.

As the other person mentioned, check for grease fittings on the front suspension arms, if there, lubricate as needed.

Once ready to ride, enjoy it a bit, then consider maybe a coolant change, and tire replacement if deemed needed.
