Default I don't like my driver's backrest - any better options?

I have a 2020 RTL. On about a 200-mile jaunt, I found that the driver's backrest sits up too high. This is the stock BRP backrest. I would like to replace it with a lower flat backrest that gives me lumbar support low on my back.

Any suggestions from everyone would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I looked at a lot of driver's backrest models, for me the Utopia adjusts in multiple ways, you can adjust it in height, it's up to you to make a good choice.

IMHO someone will buy yours, and pay you MORE than one from Utopia ...... I have a Utopia and put a thin wedge on the upright mounting bar for LUMBAR support..... works great ...... I don't think there is anything ( reasonable ) you can do to alter the one from BRP ...... Mike

Utopia has been on several of my bikes. Tried a Show Chrome.. did not like it.. pad was way too small.
I copied BluKnight911’s idea of putting a slanted wedge… I used a rubber door stop.. to give me more of a custom lower support.. excellent idea.. works great.

I have this one on my F3. Love the adjustability and can change the angle while riding if needed.

125k miles with Utopia on my GL1800, put one on the '21 RTL when purchased and ~9000 on it. Thumbs up from me!

The BRP backrest has two height positions. Is the backrest flush against the seat, or can you see about 1" of the steel support? If you can see the steel support, you can lower the back rest. If it's flush against the seat, it's as low as it can go.

+1 for the Utopia. I have had it on4 bikes and it always works. Can be adjustable up and down and back and forward. It is also less expensive than other options.

I have a backrest but wanted more lumbar support. I bought a memory foam neck pillow for $10 at Marshall's. It has a strap thar wraps around the backrest,

I get low frequency vibration through my Utopia backrest, it is annoying.

In addition the BRP backrest can be adjusted quite a bit fore and aft with the set screw (more of a bolt really). The angle of the rest does change as it is adjusted but I found I could get it to be very comfortable by changing the screw. I'm just posting this in case you (@peterparker) did not realize there is an adjustment screw.

Utopia used to sell a model that could be easily re-moved .... it was called an "easy out" ... it was a bit more expensive but it did give you the option of removing it ... when I was vending and selling Utopia's I would add this feature by welding a pocket to the under seat bracket so the up-right could slide in and out...... you can flip that adjusting wedge upside down and the backrest will be just about 1/2 inch off the seat.

Same with my '16 F3...most comfortable backrest I've ever had and I had Utopia's on my '11Rt and '14RT.

We both "had" the one from Show Chrome, I recently changed to the Utopia, much better fit for me. Julie is going the smaller one, she said it fits perfect.

On my 2021 RTL, it just pulls straight up and off. Back on just as easy.
