Default 2022 RT Rims are HARD TO CLEAN! What do you do?

I just gave our new 22 RTL a bath and those wheels are hard to clean ! What are you guys using to get into those really small areas on the wheel ?

Hi Rick, I have a 2021 F3 Ltd with the same wheels and they are also black. I use a bucket of water and rag to clean my Spyder. The easiest way I found to clean it is to jack the whole vehicle off the floor, that way I can clean the inside and outside of the wheels, including the rear wheel. I wipe my Spyder off after every ride, that way it's easier to keep clean. It's just me.

My front wheels have a busy pattern with very small areas where you cant even get your finger in there, thats the part of the front rims I'm talking about. Yes Great point about jacking it up as thats what I did, Makes it so much easier !

I use this on my wheels after every ride, and then when they get really dirty I throw it in the washer. Plus every once in a while I use a Maguires spray and wipe carnuba wax on them.

Oh and I have the 2022 but in the chrome model, but before this one I had a 2019 F3L with the wheels you are talking about.

You can buy brushes of all sizes to clean wheels. They are the best way, in my opinion.

IMHO, you might want to consider getting a commercial cleaner that is specific to BRAKE DUST ..... ordinary dirt washes off, Brake Dust doesn't ..... good luck .... Mike

I use a mixture of 1/3 Purple Power, 1/3 Blue Dawn, 1/3 Regular Tide in a foaming bottle. I use a low power pressure washer and rinse the entire bike, Then foam it down with the mixture and let it set for a few minutes, then rinse it off with the low power pressure washer. Blow it off with a leaf blower. Bike looks like new when done and never had to use a cloth to wipe it down.

Orright, mine's not a 2022 RT-L by a looong shot, but with the fiddly chrome finish wheels on my 2013 RT-L, I just spray them with Chemtech CT-18 SuperWash (it used to be 'Truck Wash', but lots of us not only use it on our Trucks ie, real Trucks, Semi type trucks - we used it on everything; ute's, tray-tops, pick-ups, the family sedan, cab-over reefer vans, anything! ) Maybe sometimes I'll give the wheels &/or body work a bit of a rub up with a car-wash brush too (but that's optional! ) but once sprayed, you really just need to go ryde in the rain for as loong as the fancy takes you! 10 mins is OK; 30 mins is more fun; a full day trip makes it much more worth your while - cos then you can 'wash' the wheels again termorra! Regardless, using this 'Spray & Ride' technique, the wheels end up as clean as a whistle & shining bright - every time! And if you ever feel the need to 'blow-dry' your Spyder, just ride it until about 20 mins after the rain stops!

If I'm feeling REALLY energetic, I'll not only WASH the wheels (and the rest of the Spyder) this way, but I'll also WAX them too - Yep, Chemtech CT-20 Wash & Wax does the job using exactly the same method! Works well every time; beee-yoouuu-difull finish; and it saves me from wasting a lot of time on drudge work when I could be ryding instead! I much prefer the ryding, and doing it this way, I not only get to ryde more, but I get the Wash/Wash & Wax done at the same time!

    What's to not like!

I use two cap fulls to 1 bucket of water of common variety Gold Medal wash and wax on all my vehicles.

For the wheels I use a brush. Shock flaming horror.

Add an ounce of common variety elbow grease
which seems to be in short supply and unobtainable for many, and they all come up Bonza Majic.

The wax costs me $45 kiwi for 5 litres. Think about that - two cap fulls per bucket.....

    wash n wax w1200.jpg

For the rest of the body panels I use a 3M™ Doodlebug™ White Cleaning Pad 8440.

    doodlebug_a_jpeg_1.jpg

Applied again with that elusive ounce or two of elbow grease.

I have this wheel detail kit that I use to get in the crevices.

    https://www.autogeek.net/speed-maste...olies-kit.html

I have the larger one in this two brush set that I use on my cars and the larger part of the Spyder wheels. I think the smaller one in this kit would work good for the smaller crevices in the Spyder wheels.

I buy it from my local AutoPro Store - they have lotsa stuff that I never see on Amazon, but I would've thought that if Amazon sells any Chemtec gear, they'd at least have the facility to order any of the rest....

There again, maybe it's an 'Australia only' product?? There's a bunch of stuff that you lot can get that shows up here as 'not available for sale in Australia'; altho sometimes it's just 'not available for shipment...' instead of '....for sale....'

I reckon you may be right there Peter.
The Autoshine stuff I use seems to be made in the Manawatu, New Zealand building, where I pick up my supplies and is about 1 hr away. They also sell the Doodlebugs, which I hadn't heard of them since WW2.

I use that method after a recommendation from a pro valet bloke who uses a Doodlebug pad, brushes and the wash and wax product.

There are many to choose from world wide and quite a few seem to contain that carnauba wax.

I often get asked what polish I use. I say none at all. I use the wash n wax, followed by a wipe down with a microfiber cloth in the shed out of the sun. Both cars and bikes come up really well.
