2013 RT Lower right side Heat Blanking Shield
Earlier this summer I installed a Blanking plate on the lower right side on my 2013 RT with the 998 engine. That’s where hot air hits your right foot if you put your feet to far forward.
Saw on a video by a Spyder tech named Smoak ( has a lot of interesting Spyder videos btw ) and he says that doing that will ruin the water pump over time.
I installed mine, deflects the hot air wonderfully, and have not had any issues, nor has the bike run any hotter.
Just curious what peoples thoughts are on this.
Thanks for any comments

Just installing the plate will certainly raise some temps in that area, There's a thread here on Spyderlovers where there's some additional heat reduction by venting the bottom of that area out beneath the Spyder. Did you use the $21 BRP Part #705004803 that fits '14's and later?

Rob's Mod's and Farkles has the section Right Foot Heat gone I followed his lead, and even riding on triple digit temp days my Spyder never got hot on the gauges or my feet.
And I'm assuming your '13 already has the Heat Mitigation scoops installed, right?

My RT had no panning below the blocking plate. There is an opening right below the plate about 6 inches square where the heat goes out. The instructions that came with it had a comment about if you had a 13 RT there is no plate to remove.
I’m headed out Sunday on a ride so I plan to stop a few times and carefully touch the plate to see how hot it actually gets.
My RT has the Heat Mitigation Scoops and all heat related and any other recalls done. Runs very cool ( temp midrange or lower ) even on very hot days in traffic.
Thanks for the comments
Appreciate it
Cheers
