    Have been just snugging up with 3/8 ratchet... might switch to 1/4 drive.
    Had read 8ft pounds.. but torque wrench I have, doesn't go that low!

    I wouldn't use a Rachet on those type of bolts ..... On my GS & RSS after switching to larger windshields .... I epoxied 1in. X 1ln. pieces of sheet metal over the Holes to support the bolt heads .... never had an issue ... Mike

    While I have never looked at a 2008 GS windshield, based on your picture and the parts manual, I would use a 1/4" drive Torx bit and ratchet BUT would hold the ratchet right at its head tighten the bolts with just a couple of fingers on the ratchet. I would check the bolts after every ride for about a half dozen jaunts.
    Artillery lends dignity to what would
    otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

    For the top 2 holes use the plastic screws with no washers and 4 pound inches.

    For the bottom 2 holes use the metal screws with metallic washers + the rubber washers. 22 pound inches.

    Tighten the screws in the order 1, 2, 3, 4.

    1 = bottom left (looking at it from front of windshield
    2 = top right
    3 = bottom right
    4 = top left.

    Above is from the BRP instructions that came with their large windshield for my 08GS.

    Windshield I bought from California Scientific. Their mounting suggestion is,
    "no rubber. many spyder oem washers have rubber".

    The BRP instructions for my large BRP touring screen have worked perfectly for 10 yrs and 50,000km
