Help me Choose a Spyder?

Hi all!

Im new to the spyder world and hope to get some help from you guys.

Really like the looks of the RT with panniers and top box on the rear.
Is it possible to get that look on any of the other spyder versions?

How to think when choosing 900 or 1300 versions?

Im having a hard time to find out exactly what is the difference between ST/RT V1, etc etc.

Im located in Sweden, arent too many of these machines here unforunately.

Will likely want look at the RT & F3T some bag modification on 20 up models sorry don’t know exact info believe some is removable. Others will have better details do know the Vtwin 900s discontinued

I would suggest the 2014 Spyder models and up( they have the new Rotax "1330 Ace Engine), they are low maintenance, smoother ride, 6 speed transmission, new 1200 W-Alternator, ( 85 % more power for your electronic accessories, the previous maximum 650 W), Refined front design and heat management. ( they made room for the new Rotax 1330 Ace high-torque engine creating a new fascia design, interfacing the Spyder RT''s unique blend of elegance and power. They also improved heat management by doubling radiator capacity and moving the hot air away from the rider when traveling at a slower speed.That ensures more comfort for both the rider and and the passenger.

The "1330" Rotax Engine is configured with 3 in-line cylinders, they produce more high -torque response in every gear and 40% more low-end torque. Better fuel economy. You can cruise around at 3,300 rpm's with the new 6 speed transmission.

Some on here like the old analog gauges on the pre 2018 models (of the RT anyway). I prefer the new digital dash that is on the 2018+ models. I bought the RT Limited for comfort, storage capacity, and the floorboards. The F3 is a fine machine but I don't like the look of the rail for adjusting the floorboards fore and aft. And personally I like the look of the 2020+ RT's over the older models (2019 and earlier). Plus the 2020+ models have full led lighting. That is a huge plus for me! Before the RT came out in 2010, I added windshield fairings, hard bags, and trunks to both of our 2008/2009 GS & RS versions. It cost more to buy the add ons than it did to buy the complete package when it was available in 2010. Yes, I bought a 2010 anyway and traded the 08 GS.

There are a lot of options to "dress" up a base version. So...it will be kind of up to you.

Im a little worried that the RT will be difficult to mount due to bags.
That is why im thinking about buying without first and then add.

I'm definitely going for a 1300 after reading here.

Any good thread to find what to test when test driving?

Before you go on your test drive, search within yourself as to WHAT you will use it for and what TYPE of riding will you be primarily be doing. Also, MAKE SURE you sit on ALL the bikes available, and find which one is the MOST comfortable. I cannot stress this last part enough.

Anyway, good luck and have fun acquiring your first 3-wheeler !!

I have found an object that Im interested in.

It have been riden with 2 previous owner a total of 50000km (31 068,56 mi).
Anything specific to be aware of?

What points are supposed to be serviced and in what intervals?

What year is that ...the 2013 has the same front fenders as the 2014 and up.....so can you let us know? The 2013 is NOT favorable and still has the 998cc and additional worries. I don't see the recalled air scoops on this RT so I'm assuming it is 2014 or newer. If 2014 or newer...mileage is not important.other than maintenance The service interval is 9300 miles for oil and filter. At 28,000 miles the tranny HCM filter ( $120 part) oil filter($20) fuel filter($5( spark plugs x3) should be replaced. Those are some of the normal routines. Of course a general looksie should be done. Let us know the general maintenance that has been done to this tires brakes battery and any add on modifications and we can get you more focused answers
