What size Oetiker Clamp is needed on lower Radiator hoses?
Anyone happen to know what the size is for the Oetiker clamps on the lower radiator hoses? These things are $8.50/ea on the parts sites, yet $20/hundred in bulk. Not looking for worm clamps.
I don't know what size you need but Lowe's seems to carry them, too. Lowe's lists them as Sharkbite PEX clamps but they seem to be the same. Looks like 5 bucks for 10 or 10 bucks for 25.

If I remember correctly when I needed the lower Oetiker clamp when I changed the coolant on my 2014 RTS 1330 a few years ago...I tried to cross reference the size to the Oetiker clamp catalog and HAD NO LUCK finding the exact size needed...I think the BRP size is a exclusive for BRP ONLY...JUST LIKE THE GOODYEAR AIR BAG/SPRING...I THINK I have a spare or two out in the garage and if you have a BRP part number I will measure one for you...larryd
You're correct worm gear clamps will not seal properly and can damage the radiator hose. Use constant torque clamps instead. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N9AEH0M

I used the worm type on the RT fuel filter but I have a question about Oetiker.....do we use these Oetiker because they have a preset amount of pressure applied circumferentially? And do we use a special tool to apply these?

Yes, and Yes. Worm clamps do not apply pressure equally, and most people way over torque them. That's why you see the rubber squirting out through the worm slots. It's a condition called, "cold flow", and is damaging to the rubber. There is a special Oetiker pliers that is used to set the clamp properly. Most importantly, it's the sizing of the clamp that is critical. The open size of the clamp is for the hose or tube diameter, and the closed size is for the exact clamping pressure that is required. Oetiker clamps are not reusable.
They make hose clamps with a metal lining that will prevent the "cold flow" problem...These lining clamps are a MUST USE on silicone hoses and they work equally well on all types of hoses...

IMHO, these work just as good, are less expensive and are easier to remove/install as those Oetiker clamps.

Recently I used this clamp, to replace the Oetiker clamp, on the R/H lower radiator hose, when changing coolant on my 2018 F3L. It was worked well aka, no leaks. Purchased through ebay: narrow Band 9mm Steel Hose Clamp 25-40mm - Made in Germany Pack of 2 HC25-40/9
