Curious if any 2014's would be at risk...my 2014 RTS has some red dust but seems to be in overall good shape...Is there any structural differences? Did BRP use a different sprocket after 2014?

I've only heard of a couple of 2014's that show RED Dust .... so far mine isn't one of them .... I think it was JC Thorne who posted that 2014's made after April have shown some Red Dust .... Then in 15 the F-3 showed it first ..... good luck .... Mike

Talked with my local dealer yesterday. They are NOT doing interim repairs for the red dust.
Any repair is at the owners cost.
The dealer said BRP will not have a solution until Aug 22.
Its going to be a long wait...

It took a few Spyders catching fire to get BRP to fix the overheating problems with the 2013 RT's and they NEVER did much about the DESS problems in the 2014's

Well, after reading all of the posts on this subject, i decided that I’d better not leave my head buried in the sand, and should investigate my 2014 RTS just a bit further, so I dropped by my dealer (the original selling dealer, I might add) and had him look up my unit to see if there were ANY recalls outstanding for my unit. There was NOTHING. I then went a step further and had a look on my swing arm for the plate with the assembly date on it. The plate shows a date of 12/2013 (December 2013). I’m doubly good!

I bought a White Sprocket/Pulley early last year. I have the pulley in storage for use in an emergency.
The pulley is available (at cost) for any member of BattleBorn Spyders.
If not needed by Mid July I will carry it with me to the D3WR.
Cheers, David C.
Will be there Friday with bells on. I do look good in bells...

I have a 2015 rt se6. My sprocket went bad on way to work. They replaced parts and labor about $800. I called dealer and they told me “Maybe” after they investigate. Called Canada. They opened a case and are investigating. In other words DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH!

I got the recall letter today for my 2015 F3-S.
Said they will be ready to do the temp fix procedure starting June 30. I have not made an appointment yet.
Also says the permanent fix will be ready at the dealer starting August 30th.
Before I bring it in I want to know what the temp fix is and what the permanent fix is.
Hopefully the dealer service department will have a clue (Cross Country Power Sports Metuchen NJ where we bought it in 2015)

both my husband and I have had to replace our front sprockets already, so I hope we're both "ok" until the permanent fix happens. I was kind of happy to see this -- at least that there may be a permanent fix in the works? Wonder what that is and how it differs from what has been done as the temp fix?
Edit: called the service manager and he said that the already done replacement work is good enough until they learn more about the permanent fix.

I have a 2015. I received a letter about this. I have no problem. My sprocket looks fine. Why a temporary fix?
We all know what the fix is, it has been covered extensively over many years.
They just need to find competent workers. You need to tell them to learn the correct assembly process.

I got a safety recall noticed in the mail too. But I'm 3,000 miles and several weeks from home so I don't know what it says. But whatever short term/long term measures they have in mind I'm going to get them done.

Received my notice of recall in the mail today. It reads as if the temporary repair does not involve the replacement of the front sprocket but something else undisclosed and the permanent fix involves the replacement of the front sprocket with a new model yet to be produced. So long as my bike is staying functional, I think I would want to be later and not sooner in the replacement process just to be sure that the "new" sprocket really is ok and not yet another mistake. Interesting that the recall does not involve the 2020 and newer models. I could swear that there have been reports of sprocket failures on the new models also. I plan to wait and see.

I'll bet it is pulley removal, thorough cleaning, new correct Moly paste, and proper torquing of a new bolt ..... Mike

In the for what it’s worth column, in a conversation with BRP rep on 6/22, I was told ALL 2015 - 2019 RT and F3s are affected by this recall. This was also confirmed by a call to a larger dealership in Northern NY and a local smaller dealer today. The BRP rep suggested I not ride because of the loss of propulsion issue caused by the issue of the recall. I have checked several times and no ‘magic red dust’ visible… BUT for sure I’ll keep checking!!!

You do not have to be notified for your Spyder to be repaired in a manufacturers recall

This is not true....you can call and see if you are affected; what if you'd had a change of address or the letter never came....RT' and F3's from 4/15/2014 to 4/15/2019 - BRP plans to notify owners of F3 and RT from 06/20 to 6/27/22 - you can also go to NHTSA.gov - click on RECALLS and THEN input your VIN and it will give you the recall number if you are affected.
