F3T Rear Spring Upgrade - what springs are suitable/available?
I ride solo. Weight of rider and full touring gear is #270.
The air bag on my F3T seems to leak out over a few weeks.
Nonetheless, adding air and adjusting pressure (35-50 psi) is a PIA.
So I want to remove the air bag.
I would like to upgrade the spring to compensate for the removal of the air bag.
I'm not looking to replace an expensive shock assembly, just want to upgrade the spring.
What spring or springs are available for this project.??

Try the search, there is alot of info already on this site, Lamonster has some great solutions on this matter, even a schrader valve conversion under the seat is an option, there are many ways to get your problem sorted.
Offcourse the easiest way, is to go to a shockcompany, and ask for the possibilities, they are for every driver different, due to weight, load, and driving style.
There is not an off the shelf solution for this, there are too many variabels

Piratezz is correct, no off the shelf solution when using the OEM shock. It will be change and try program. I upgraded the suspension on my 2014 RTL with M2 shocks. Marcus has been very good and supportive in what I need. The front shocks came with 250 lb/in springs, changed to 300 lb/in springs, much better - may change to 325 lb/in springs. The reason for changing front shock springs is the roll/lean "feel" I get in cornering, it's a personal thing.
Rear shock came with a 525 lb/in spring, tried a 700 lb/in spring - too stiff, downsized to 600 lb/in spring, minimal preload 0.5 cm, works well solo and two up - still use the air ride system.
In your case, you will need to remove the shock spring, measure the spring ID and length, determine a starting point. What type of preload adjuster is there if any? Is there a rebound damping adjustment? No quick fix.

Switching to a heavier spring isn't always the answer. Shocks are valved for their springs. Too stiff of a spring over OEM may result in your shock becoming a pogo stick because your damping will be overwhelmed. Best option is to have your shock dyno'd to see what weight spring will work. PIA? Maybe, but your most reliable answer.

If you can't readily track down a spring by itself, you could always look at less expensive alternatives to those expensive shock assemblies you don't want, like those offered by IKON. . I believe there's a US outlet for these products now, and they provide some pretty good units for Spyders, including some not necessarily shown/readily tracked down on their website. There's a few other members here on the Forum running them who might chip in. Drop them a line, or give them a call.
