Are they as good as they claim to be? I’m looking at the raw carbon fiber tank protector for my 22 RT.
.....
I would also like to use their "Raw" carbon fiber protectors, but I am a bit concerned about fraying at the edges. I may have to call them to find-out how they ensure that the fibers do not fray when accidently rubbed.
I contacted Tufskinz to ask about the quality, durability and potential fraying of the carbon fiber on the edges of the accent trims. Brad from Tufskinz quickly responded with the following information:
Thanks for reaching out in regards to our 100% Real Carbon Fiber(Raw) products for the Can-Am Spyder. Below is our 3 Layer process for our products which will help answer some of your questions.
Domed (Raised 4mm) - Our Domed product line is our signature product. Each piece is manufactured with our 3-layer process that has been designed and tested to withstand all elements.
1ST LAYER - Superior UV Doming Resin that creates a high gloss, scratch resistant, durable finish.
2ND LAYER - Consists of a variety of substrates including our 100% Real Carbon Fiber, Chrome, Camouflage and Factory color matches to allow an array of custom options.
3RD LAYER - Utilizes our 3M Automotive Grade Adhesive that creates the perfect bond to the surface of the vehicle and makes the product installation an ease.
**Only Exception: Real Carbon Fiber (Raw) is Raised 1mm**
For our Real Carbon Fiber(Raw) products, layer 1 is similar but we use a thin polyurethane topcoat instead which locks in the fibers and protects it from all elements(while still getting that textured feel). You will not need to worry about the fibers fraying or having any cleaning issues. It cleans up nicely with just water and a microfiber rag, but we’d recommend being cautious near the edges as they can be somewhat sharp(not beveled and smooth like the domed version).
With proper installation(instructions are included with your order), these parts are designed to last the lifetime of your vehicle, so you should not have any issues. The main difference between our domed and raw is that our domed is glossy, raised, with smooth beveled edges whereas our raw is thinner, textured, with a satin finish.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Brad Clements

You’re welcome.
I somewhat followed the directions. The instructions say use a 50/50 mixture of H2O and alcohol. I couldn’t bring myself to waste perfectly good alcohol so I grabbed the isopropyl instead. While back I waxed the panel. I used Ronosol lighter fluid, that’s my “put that BEEP on everything” go to for cleaning on a micro cloth, took a couple times to cut the wax off. I then sprayed the panel with the mix and no it didn’t harm the surrounding areas. I just came back from a forty mile ride and the panel was nice and warm. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt in the thin areas but not terrible. Keeping it wet is the trick just like applying decals. Would I buy more of their products? Yes I would.
