Default Almost finished our new Chuck wagon-Cargo trailer - just sharing my build.

Almost finished with our new Chuckwagon for our ride to Alaska this summer. Before all the “Experts” chime in with advice, I’m not looking for any. I have over 100k miles of experience pulling trailers with my Spyders the last 7 years . I’m just sharing my build. I still need to skin it with Aluminum and paint to match my wife’s RTL. And add the solar panels and add the lights. It will weigh 375 fully loaded. I pull a Lee-sure lite tent trailer and she pulls a cargo. In 2019 we rode coast to coast and back, spending 66 days, covering 11,000 miles and 26 states.

Oh no. You can't get off that light. Found a major glaring fault. Ain't got one of them triangle thingies to call everyone to eat. Can't be no official chuckwagon without one of them thingies.

We need a green with envy smiley.

    Great job.

Nice. Will this replace the Lees-Ure Lite or the cargo trailer?

Finished product is over in the Maiden voyage thread, I would like to see the Build sheet on the Chuck Wagon trailer. Very Impressive, bet you'll be getting requests to build or help others. Kudo's to you both, I'm envious.

I know you dont want any advice, but I used a Harbor Freight trailer to build my camper and found that if you remove the small leaf spring it will tow much better. The springs are very stiff and rated for 1195 lbs. Way mor than you will ever tow. Looks awesome BTW. Nice work!

I agree on the "very stiff" part. One caution, though, removing the small leaf can also remove a lot of the integrity. I would look into the possibility of installing a spacer about 1/4" thick between the leaves (only between the U-bolts). That would allow the longer spring to do most of the work, and use the smaller one for "overload" duties.

Just a thought, and it's worth exactly what you paid for it.

Thanks for the advice but I had already researched the harbor freight and had removed the small leafs and it did make a difference. The total weight is under 350 and would bounce like a rubber ball down the road.
