It's just reflective tape on the fenders, and it's coming off!! Ideas?
Ok, so I guess I'm not as detail oriented as I once was.
I washed my bike today for the first time, I noticed that
the reflectors on the front wheels/fenders, you know, the ones you see
if you look down sitting in the saddle.....They're just reflective tape!
And mine are already coming off, bike has never been in the rain.
Mine started peeling off back in 2020 (2019 Rally) so I designed my own. I didn't want to mess with the electrical connections underneath the fenders or the cost. These are holding up very well. Design your own, make sure you use REFLECTIVE TAPE. I designed and ordered them on: https://lettering.com/vinyl-lettering/
Just picked up some of these from TricLED ... they're supposed to be an easy install and should certainly improved visibility both front and rear.
They're 5v (USB power) so I might even be able to use the same harness to fire a couple helmet brake lights? Those work on any decel without having to tap the brakes and should mount right over the rear fender flares. These look nice, and should be good for at least 10 days without charging, do don't really need a hard wired hookup anyway.
And ya ... the stock stickers are ultimate cheep, but there's a lot of that going round to keep the unit price down.
Posted up about the TrikLED fender lights earlier. I've also got a "smart" brake light modulator coming that senses decel and flashes the lights then goes steady. Plan is to hook that into the brake light circuit, and drive the fender LED strips as well as the rear brake lights with that. Be a simple enough wire swap to the regular lighting circuit if it's too annoying or confusing.
Not that I've got anything about annoying or confusing, eh. ;-}
** Now that I think on it, wouldn't be all that much work to add an extra wire to drive small LED strips above the fender flares that would be constant on running lights along with the modulator wire.
