Eat your heart out Star Trek
I got an email telling me my computer was infected with 168 viruses. A little later on I got another email telling me my computer was infected with 135 computer viruses. Cool. My computer seems to be healing itself.

Your computer must have been made by Lockheed. Their venerable C-130 was exceptionally talented at fixing itself.

It's called 'ScareWare'. They hope you panic and start clicking on the buttons provided so they can take you to the cleaners before you calm down.
Just remember this... There is always time to panic LATER! (An old fire service saying)

I have been getting them for the first time, like those described above.
Just the last 6 weeks or so.

It's kind of like those free virus scanners you find online. Click the link and they will scan your computer for virus for FREE!. So someone accepts the FREE offer and it's revealed you have a ton of viruses which their program will clean and get ride of. All for the low price of $Whatever. So you decide it's not worth it since your computer is running fine. But guess what? When you allowed them to scan your system for free it installed a worm somewhere on your system. Now every 30 minutes you'll get bugged to pay to get the viruses removed, including the one they installed. That is if your lucky. I must have 200 filters on my email to trash these things, but every few days, new ones pop up.

Top Tip - when buying online, make a fake/ alternate email address and use this (you'll still be able to use track and trace) but spam will be much less, stops your email inbox getting cluttered with all these spam emails.
Internet shops are notoriously famous for selling email addy's.

the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it........

I think you nailed it.
Picked up my new to me Spyder. Bought some bits and joined up here . All around the same time.
So I have set up a special e-mail addy for selected stuff.
Thanks for the tip.

Three tips, when dealing with someone new. I purposely misspell my last name so I can track who sells my info to who, have one E mail address that I don't care what happens to, use this for anyone questionable, last is Facebook which I hate but need from time to time. 90 % of my info is fake. No pictures.

Ta. Good tip re the typo haha I like it.
I will put my hand up and confess I'm not that computer savvy.
To give you an idea. Well when I was a kid radios were called The Wireless and had valves that lit up like a light bulb or lamp as we called them. No TV.
Felt like Captain Kirk when I got a cell phone. After a while my daughter nicked my cell phone and set up a chat thingi on my phone when she visited and I wasn't looking. Part of facebook im told but a closed group. Mostly use a desktop. Getting the hang on setting up my inbox so named senders are just auto deleted.
