Should we wait for ordered '22 RT or buy available '20 RTL?
Hello, we are waiting, like everyone else, on my wife’s and mine 2022 RT we ordered at the same time in December. One should be coming in sometime next month so they say and the other the month after. The dealer is still waiting on a update, dealership is awesome BTW. The got a 22 RTL for someone but it’s missing the chip, instrument panel and a few other things. We are afraid that they may come towards the end of summer with parts missing.
We tried to find a few 21 RT’s in the southwest but with no success. People are buying the older ones are pretty fast. I have a line on a 2020 RTL with 700 miles with the factory warranty expiring in June that’s in my dealership now. Not sure what to do. Any major difference between the 2020’s and the 2022’s?

20+ are pretty much identical. You should be fine with the 20 RT. Get it before the warranty expires and buy the BEST extended warranty.
'20 Spyder RT: Bajaron swaybar. Vredestein tires, Pedal Commander, Elka front shocks, GPS/USB/12V handlebar mount, Heli-Bars, Radar Detector, KOTT grills & vents, Shad top case, chin & DRL LEDs.

I'd call Thomas at iMotorsports in Elmhurst, IL. I've found that he offers the least expensive 3-year B.E.S.T. warranty for $671.
But you HAVE to purchase it BEFORE the original factory runs out ....

The original factory warranty is 2 years - right?
So if I bought a '21 in 21 I don't need to buy the B.E.S.T. until just before the original runs out in '23?
Thanks... just double-checking as I asked the dealer about this 1 year after I bought the '21 and found they had put the wrong warranty date on my paperwork... said he got it corrected ...but it makes me nervous..

I got tired of waiting.
A 2022 that is already half a year old before it arrives and then is of questionable content and build quality (when the president of BRP is willing to send out incomplete units and (his words) have office staff doing assembly - I question the final product).
And it is not all about age of the unit - it is how much of the 2022 riding season am I willing to lose waiting?
Life is short and none of us are promised tomorrow.
I found a NEW 2021 and purchased it; no, it was not my preferred color - but it was painted once and being painted a 2nd time is not a deal breaker for me (plus then it can be ANY color I choose - not BRP's limited color choices).
So I have a 2021 now sitting IN MY garage - have put 400 miles on it since Tuesday and plan to jump on it in a few minutes and go to my office.
Ill suffer with the couple grand I put back into my pocket and the end of waiting.

I know where there are (as of Tuesday) at least three new 2021 RT Limiteds in the Western US.
California, Washington State and Nevada.
PM me if interested in details.

There have been several updates to the '22 that should make life easier. The big one I can think of are the saddlebag/trunk latches. I have seen more threads on here about bags not opening than just about any other problem. They are beefed up and fit better. Also the fit and finish of the body panels has been upgraded. TheSmokesVlogs has a video on YouTube explaining some of the differences. I had this exact same option but chose to buy new. They were getting close to new prices for used bikes in my area.

Mine is missing the windshield motor support. Shawn Smoakes just did a video on this exact missing part. No big deal at all. People are making way too big of a deal about missing parts. Ford, Toyota, and all of the others are keeping cars parked in massive parking lots waiting on parts because you can do this with cars. BRP has shipped them out because they are crated up anyway, they don't have the storage space for those crates, and because motorcycles don't sit so well out in the weather. That's the only difference. I'm sure people would really be pissing and moaning if they just shut down production and waited. Of course they would never do this in the first place. I'm just saying. The world of manufacturing using just in time, parts in hand strategies are over for the near future.

DOUBLE CHECK! BEST can only be extended “once!”. So if it had a 2 year warranty and was changed the extended warranty might be voided. Lets say you purchase 1 year additional after warranty so 3 years total, at the end of those 3 years you CANNOT extend for 2 additional years for the total of 5 years. On sleds and SXS this is the rule. I assume spyder is same way. The BEST extended warranty can only be applied 1 time, 3 extra years max or 5 years warranty total per machine.

Good move. I'd have done the same thing.
Use that money you just saved and invest it on making your ride even BETTER than the 2022: Pedal Commander, ECU reflash, etc. You'll still probably come out hundreds of dollars ahead.
And you'll have plenty of time to ride and enjoy Life.
It's a win/win situation if you ask me. Good luck !!

Best Time? ?
...You need to carefully decide whether you want to wait or go for something now.
Do you have something to Ryde now?
Then I would wait.
You know the drill.
Remember waiting can be fun sometimes, but you will need to choose.

I don't know what they are asking for the used one, but it should be less than 25,000 IMHO. I have a 2020 RT Limited Chrome and gave less than that for it new off the lot. Yes, that was after the 2,000 rebate.
It mainly depends on how badly youre wanting to ride now. Myself...........I'm not a patient person when I want something.

The new Can Ams are being shipped with some parts missing due to supply issues. I've been waiting for an electronic part since last Oct for my 2018 and my dealer tells me they don't expect BRP to release that part until July (maybe). For me that's half the riding season. Fortunately for me, that part does not really effect the safe operation or road worthiness of my bike so I can ride without it. If I had to give up half the riding season waiting for my dealership to get the parts needed to allow them to sell me the bike, I'd pass and buy a slightly older used Spyder.

You are right on I Motorsports offering the best pricing on the BEST warranty. However, I asked and my dealer matched their pricing. Must be a lot of wiggle room on those warranties..

I would not necessarily wait on a bike that is promised by BRP. They are pushing delivery dates out a month or 2 at a time, and then pushing them out some more. And even when they do get them to the dealerships, they are missing parts. But on the other hand, people are selling 2020 and 2021's for more than they paid for them new. This is simply supply and demand. If I was in the market, i would keep an eye out for a low milage used one, but I would not overpay. There are deals out there, but you just have to be patient and be ready to purchase when the deal first shows itself (once you make sure it is legit). I passed up a deal on a 2020 RT with 4k miles for $15,000 in October. I had just purchased my wife's 2016 F3T and didn't move on the RT. In hindsight, I should have purchased the RT and sold her F3T.

Not the case according to the FAQ on this BRP web page. https://can-am.brp.com/off-road/us/e...-warranty.html
You can purchase or extend your B.E.S.T. protection at any time if your BRP vehicle is still under the manufacturer’s limited warranty or a current B.E.S.T. contract.
I read this as saying you can buy multiple one-year contracts if you want. Of course that would be a needless waste of $$ to do it that way!
