Thumbs up Anyone modified an a/mkt Driver Backrest for extended rearward travel? 2017 F3T

    I'm looking for a Driver Backrest 2017 F3T.
    OEM is not a consideration.
I tried 2 different aftermarket Backrests from Amazon.
Both pushed me too far forward. Hence my dilemma.
Has anyone modified an aftermarket backrest for extend rearward travel?
    Thanks, David C.

Haze, I have the Smooth Spyder backrest on my 2015 F3s, which is quite adjustable for rider or passenger. This is a spendy backrest, but very high quality and easy to adjust, I love how it works for me, and I am 6’2” tall. https://www.smoothspyder.com/f-3-bac...-luggage-rack/ You can also contact Jim at SmoothSpyder to discuss your needs. jim@smoothspyder.com

I've built backrests for a few different Spyders ..... I make the hardware parts and have always preferred using a " backrest " made by UTOPIA .... they are the thinnest, and most adjustable. .... I know your seat is different from the RT ... but a bracket could be sourced or built ..... back when they had the GS models, UTOPIA made backrests for them .... however they said you had to remove the seat cover to do it .... I was able to mount it without doing that ..... good luck .... Mike

I have the Lamonster driver's backrest for my F3. It has an adjustment screw for the backrest position. And it has a sturdy mounting bracket.

If the main 'spine' piece is at an angle such that it just doesn't allow you to sit back far enough, it wouldn't take much to heat it while in a vise and just give it a bit of persuasion and you should be able to reduce the static angle by a few degrees which should translate into more 'sitback' for the rider. If you can, post a pic of the seatback you have and let's see if that wouldn't be possible...

    Chunkmonk,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
I should be able to try modifying a backrest bracket in a few weeks.
Right now the bike is back together and needing a long ryde.
