Default Baffle on exhausts, size ?

    Hi guys

I got a aftermarket exhaust, but I want to put a forward baffle on it to tone it down just a little

What size/type baffle can I put on the mid section (pipe) ? is it 51mm or 49mm ?

ħAlso, is there any chance a baffle can damage the bike ?

    Thanks in advance

    Carlos

You will need to take your exhaust apart and measure the ID diameter of the pipe. I've never seen an exhaust for the Ryker that has sections. I have a RLS exhaust and it is a solid unit w/ a 51mm baffle on the engine side. I have no access to the mid-section of my exhaust unless I want to saw it in half. And I ain't doing that.

Yeah, I just explained myself wrong, that’s what I mean, size for the baffle for the engine side

Is there any possible damage on using an engine side baffle ? Any advise on good ones to get ?

A db killer in the output is easier to install, easier to modify, etc.

    Harm?
More open or no baffles equals louder.

Over baffling can end up with a wooshing or hissing sound like a 500 cubic inch Cadillac motor with the stock exhaust at full throttle.

But unless you close it off almost completely, like stuffing a potato in an exhaust, I can't see how there would be any harm.

In 1976 I purchased a new Honda CB750F, which had a 4 into 1 exhaust. It was a bit long to ride the bike off of a curb in front of my shop so I installed an aftermarket exhaust, which was too loud. I then welded a large fender washer inside the output, resulting in that previously described Cadillac sound. I reamed it out until I had the sound I wanted.

    What aftermarket exhaust?
What is ID of exhaust tip?

Sorry to be of no more help, but with 82 HP from 900 cc, I was satisfied with the stock exhaust, even if that 82 HP takes 8,000 RPM (100 MPH) to achieve.
