BRP should demand an apology.
BRP should demand an apology and clarification from this TV station for the stations misrepresentation of their product. The news story is in regards to alleged safety issues with H/D trikes, but the station is clearly using a photo of a Can Am Ryker as a lead in to the story. For the unfamiliar, it paints BRP's products in a terrible light.

I totally agree, but an apology will be meaningless and far too easy for the station. It would most likely reek of insincerity. I'm thinking they (BRP) should file some type of defamation law suit. This is blatant misrepresentation of where the problem lies and who should be held accountable. Sure, they only talk about HD in the piece, but an image carries a lot of weight in the buying public's minds.
Even more importantly here though is that HD seems to be unwilling to take responsibility on problems with one of the most important safety features on any type of vehicle. The moment this surfaced as a problem they should have recalled 100% of these things and not allowed them back on the road until completely certain the problem had been corrected. NTSB needs to be all over this to prevent loss of more lives by forcing HD to get those trikes fixed or replaced as quickly as possible. They should also dictate HD give full refunds to those who choose to no longer ride those trikes. The company can afford that monetary obligation a whole lot easier than it can afford billion-dollar class action law suits.

I like how they say Harley should just own the problem. If Harley just admits its their fault they might as well close their doors. No big corp will just accept responsibility for a problem like this, at least not till a court forces them to. On a side note, I think the majority of the public doesnt know the difference between a Spyder, Ryker, Tri Glide, or even standard 2 wheeler, I think they just lump us all into the category of motorcycles/bikers, like its more about the lifestyle than the amount of wheels or where they are placed.

2x I'm not a biker, I'm a motorcycle enthusiast. That's the lifestyle difference I like to point out.

I would add, outright, intentional lies to the list. Very sad state of affairs these days. It didn't used to be this way. But it's been so long, people forget that at one time, the news was trustworthy.

In truth a conventional trike lay out, one wheel in front and two in the back are inherently un stable in any braking or turning situation and more so when both are combined. That is exactly why the initial 3 wheel ATV's were discontinued. The reverse trike lay up is actually inherently stable, as in the Can Am's Ryker and Spyder, Vanderhalls and the Polaris Slingshot.
The Can Am's are the most sophisticated of the lot.

Looks like quality of their reporting and HD are in the same class. Very unfortunate. Feel for those people.

See this comment here on the news website. Now they need to take down the Youtube video.
CORRECTION:
A video that previously accompanied this article incorrectly displayed a different manufacturer’s vehicle. That video has been removed.

As a motorcycle enthusiast I hate to see this kind of stuff. It gives all manufacturers a bad rap with the non-riding public since "we all look alike" to them. It will take an investigation to get to the root cause because HD just like Can Am doesn't make the braking components used on their trikes. All of that stuff is outsourced and usually to the lowest bidder. Did an outsourced component fail? Was it an assembly error at the trike factory? There are so many different areas that will need to be examined and then a determination made. HD isn't going to talk to some reporter about this and neither would BRP.

That's hilariously incompetent 'journalism'. Typical of television 'news' shows for decades. That's all.
BRP, I'm sure, could care less.

I agree.. this is just another typical report from over zealous reporters that never get the story right.. It's a shame what the media does to innocent people and businesses.. this is why I don't believe the bulk of what I see on TV these days.

Back in the day, when Spyders were first invented, the ride reports and reviews were also on the hilarious side. The big boy motorcycle magazines did not have a "clue" about the product. It really showed in those early reviews. I had already bought mine prior to some of the reviews. I even wrote a letter to the Editor for Rider Magazine. I talked about two bikes at the same time, because I just happened to have one of each.
Spyder 08/ SM5 and Kawasaki 2000CC.
They printed my letter. I gave good reports on both.

That's why in Casa de Bros we refer to it as the Yokel News.
OTOH, BRP was no shining light of corporate diligence in the 2013 "Firebomb" RT scandal.

I am an old retired Mechanic , did it all my life , and not bragging , but I can build pretty much anything I want to build . about 10 years ago I owned 2 Honda Goldwings at same time , I was thinking about when I get old enough that I don't feel I'm safe on a 2 wheeler bike . soooo I just built one of them into a Trike . It took me about a year to have a few Mechined parts made , like Driveshaft , and rear Axles , ... in the end it was as good as any other regular trike , out on the main highway , 4 lane Interstate type it was fine , But ... in tight turns at any speed at all....... I Did Not Like it at all... I bearly put 600 miles on it and I Sold it . and I knew by then I didn't want a regular Trike , that was before I ever rode a Spyder , but.. when I rode a Spyder It Was Over ....LOL I Was Hooked .
