Driver backrest bracket for RT

Hi all. I recently purchased an RT and the guy gave me a drivers backrest with it, but the bracket in the seat to mount it isn't there. any chance someone has an extra or knows where i could get one? I can't seem to find it available through can am.

To the best of my knowledge, the brackets that mount under the seat that hold the backrests are not sold separately from the seats! I found this out when I changed from my OEM seat to a BRP Comfort Seat! I was not about the pay BRP's price for a backrest so bought an aftermarket one from Utopia Products (utpr.com) for just a little more than 1/2 the price of BRP's. They color match the material and sew it with whatever color stitching you desire. I absolutely LOVE mine! It's just as large as the BRP backrest too and adjustable.

I installed a Utopia rider's seat on my '21 RT and there was no additional bracket needed on the bike. The Utopia goes through the insertion hole on the seat and connects to the existing bracket on the bike. I believe this is the same for the BRP seat. The Utopia is very comfortable and adjustable.

If you buy a pre-2020 CanAm Spyder WITHOUT a backrest, you've just got yourself a desk ornament, cos there's NO existing bracket on the seat so it won't ever work properly on the Spyder!!

AFAIK, there's only ONE WAY to get the pre-2020 OE Bracket that fits the OE Backrest, and that's to buy the OE Backrest kit complete!! BRP sells the Backrest with the bracket included, so if you buy an OE Backrest from anyone, then it's not complete unless you get the bracket that fits into the underside of the seat pan!

If you've already got a pre-2020 OE Backrest without the under-seat bracket, then maybe you could ask who-ever you bought the (otherwise useless) backrest from, cos they might find it difficult to sell just the bracket (since the OE Backrests from BRP always include that bracket); or you might be lucky enough to source one off a Spyder being wrecked.... but I don't think we've ever seen any positive results from members here trying to track down just the bracket.....

Can someone post a few pics of the actual bracket piece ..... anything can be made .... I used to make brackets for the 14 thru 19 seats .... maybe I can help folks out on this ..... Mike

It looks to me that you have all you need, you just have to install the bracket!!

OK M, you posted you didn't have the " bracket " so how were you able to post a pic ???? ..... I need some close-ups of the Bracket from different angles and take some measurements the over-all size .... and measurements of the holes and distance between them ( center to center )..... If I can get someone to trace the bracket onto a thin piece of cardboard I can trans fer it to Metal ... Thanks .... Mike

I checked " cheapcycleparts " also but they only show the backrest as attached to the seat ..... Maybe another member would be willing to take theirs off .... do some pics and make a tracing, and mail it to me ..... I have built a few Custom parts for the Spyders that other folks needed. .... Mike

I have a complete unit I would sell. It does not appear to be BRP.
