This discussion has turned toxic, I think.

I've been banned several times from Facebook, and kicked off for life from Smith & Wesson Forum for making an anti-Hilary comment back in 2016. Some of the best forums have BOTH special interest information and at least one sub-forum for just about anything to be discussed. One of the best is Glocktalk. You might want to join that forum even if you are not a gun person, or not a Glock person. Motorcycleforum.com has an "Off Topic" area where almost anything is fair game, but has a very small group of users. I agree with forums not allowing profanity or personal attacks or blatant racism or other bigotry, but forums that seem to melt if you mention anything remotely political are ones I generally avoid.
I came to this forum when I gave up my Goldwing in favor of a new Spyder RT, but there is just so much I can discuss about a 3 wheel motorcycle. Its nice to be able to vent or discuss the state of the world with others who might share an interest in the subject.

Well, my friend, I am what is considered a 'snowflake' I suppose. I'm not offended by anything that has been said here so far, although I may not share those opinions. I'm just pointing out, though, that in demeaning one group of Spyder Lovers (let's say liberals for the sake of clarification) just because they don't agree with the majority opinion here, is to violate the rules of this forum, I think. It certainly does nothing to bond us all together in our common interest of Spydering.
I think people who want to vent their spleen have many avenues to do so. Those of us who don't wish to be subjected to disparaging comments and divisive rhetoric while sharing our love of Spyders don't have anywhere else but this forum.

Maybe attempting to separate the opinion from the person would help. (although difficult at times)

Used to frequent that site a while back.

Maybe it has changed, but for awhile you had to curtail your language or the women would complain and I'd get lots of warnings. Snipershide is a great place to chat with very little moderation and people are tolerant of differing opinions, but be ready to defend your opinions.

Nope, I don't believe Pete is a snowflake either.

I must have missed the post that called an individual member here a snowflake. In today's society, a person can self-identify as whatever he/she/they/them chooses to.
I'm from the NE so my skin is pretty thick. Just don't call me late for the next group ride.

I don't think of myself that way, but knowledgeable right-wing Veteran buddies tell me that I fit their definition of a libtard snowflake. So, who am I to argue?

Yes, the USS Arizona. This was featured in the Yuma Veterans Day parade 2 years ago. Our CVMA group escorted it down the parade route.

ARTraveler, and other moderators, this is not a personal attack so do not misread it to be one. I ask that this post is not deleted or altered by a moderator, it is not to create havoc, but rather bring forward that there are a lot of rules here on Spyderlovers. Depending upon what area you post in the rules differ. It can be very confusing for those posting, in that what a moderator utilizes as the rules can differ from what a person posting understands as the rules.
It would be kind of nice / better if there was one set of rules here on Spyderlovers. You say rule #2, yet Lamonster posted these as the actual specific rules for the Off Topic Forum, and Rule #1 is no political stuff or it gets deleted. What is Tick, Tick, Tick? Delete the offending political posts as Lamonster detailed in the rules, but do not lock the topic as that is not stipulated as a specification of the rules?
So many Spyderlovers rules, and different places where differing lists of Spyderlovers rules are located.
The following is what Lamonster posted specifically in the Off Topic Board,
“Exclamation New Off Topic Board- Read before posting here!
The OTB is going to be an experiment of sorts of what to do with "good" Off Topic post.
Please read and abide by these rules.
There will be Zero Tolerance for political post here.
All such post will be deleted without explanation. If you choose to ignore this rule repeatedly you may lose your membership on this site.
All OT post will be moved from the General Spyder board to the OTB
There are some really great OT post on our boards but seems they have a habit of taking over the General Spyder board from time to time. This gives you a place to post OT type post instead of the General Spyder board.
Personal Attacks will not be tolerated
Nothing wrong with a little banter but personal attacks will not be tolerated and isn't worth losing your membership over. Keep it fun and keep it clean and try and show respect toward each other.
This is still a Worksafe and Family Friendly Board
No links, pictures or content that would be considered sexual in nature. There have been guys on our boards that almost got fired because of these type of post, please keep that in mind.
This board is just an experiment
I may take this board down today, I may take this board down next week. My hopes are that I have spelled out the rules clear enough so that this board is not going to be just another headache for me. If it is it will be gone. I may add to the rules at any time as I see fit. I will not explain why I removed a post to you. If a post was removed it was for a good reason and chances are you didn't see why. I don't have time to edit post so even if most of the post in a thread are fine I still may pull the whole thing. Make this easy on me guys and this can be a fun place for you.”
These are what I found as General Rules applicable to the entire forum.
General Rules
All posts must be written in English (Threads/Posts written in a language other than English may be removed without notice).
Political posts are NOT allowed on the site.
Don't Insult, Flame, Spam or Abuse any members via Threads, Posts, e-mail or Private Messages etc...
Don't Bypass site filters for swearing, black listed dealers or other links deemed unfit for the site.
Don't abuse or encourage abuse of the user reputation system, post/thread reporting functions or other functions of the site.
Don't post personal info of members (i.e. names, addresses, emails or phone# etc...)
Don't derail a thread/posts topic (diluting the topics effectiveness, i.e. you reply to a users help request asking about an F3 & you reply with check out this flashlight. )
Multi accounts - Immediate & Permanent ban of all your accounts (some multi accounts are excluded, couples/roomates etc...).
Bad Posting Behavior - Continually being Abrasive, Condescending or Rude etc...
Don't openly call out another member in the forums (Because you don't like them or their a bad seller/buyer. - Keep it private, involve staff or simply place them on your ignore list.)
Don't post links or content related to Porn/Nudity, Racist or other wise straight Vulgar content (This includes video links).
Arguing with Staff isn't allowed.
Then in another location, these are posted as the rules.
Exclamation Forum Rules and Guidelines (Read Before Posting)
I hope you like your new Can-Am Spyder message board. It will take some time getting use to it for some of you and some of you have been using this type of format for awhile now. There are a few things you need to know before you start posting on this board.
I've been running message boards for about 16 years now and I know what makes a board work and I know what will kill a board. Unfortunately every board has to have some sort of rules. I would ask that you not post any porn on this site or links to any porn or risque photos (including avatars and sig pics) and please try and keep your language clean if you would. We all know where to look and hear that stuff if we want to.
This is a "Work Safe and Family Friendly Site" and I run all my boards with a G to PG rating and you should be able to click on any message here and not have to worry about what's going to pop up on the screen if your kids are in the room. If you see a post that is violates these rules and guidelines please let me know by clicking the Report to moderator link and I will deal with it.
Trolls and Spammers
If a troll shows up on our boards and I can identify their IP I will disable all their accounts and will continue to do so until they go somewhere else to play. Trolls will be banned as fast as I can find them in-order to keep peace in the house. Someone asked me today what a "Troll" was. A Troll is someone that comes here only to cause division within our group. They have nothing of any value to add to this site. Spammers will be delt with in the same manner.
The main thing that makes a board a friendly place to come to is to show respect for each other. You don't have to agree with all the members, heck you don't even have to like all the members here but please show some respect for their differences, and take it easy on the new guys and gals. You were a new member at one time too.
I'll have boards setup for everything so try and post the right messages on the right board (tech goes in tech and so on). This will make it much easier for you to read what you want to read. I can move messages if I need to.
You have full control over your messages. You can edit and delete any of your own messages and you can change any of your profile information.
If you want me to load a picture/avatar for you remember to tell me the user name you signed up with and that it is for the SpyderLovers board. I'm running a bunch of boards right now and I don't want to go looking for you on all my boards. Send your picture to SpyderSupport@gmail.com and I will load them as fast as I can. Don't forget to give me your user name and that it's for the SpyderLovers board.
The rules can be summed up pretty easy "Use good judgment so the moderators won't have to"
The specific rules for the Joke Forum somewhat contradict the rules posted elsewhere. These are the Joke Forum Rules.
Default Joke Forum Rules - Read them or be removed!
As the site doesnt have one currently, its now been added.
These are the requirements.
1. 18+, please enter your birthday in your profile or the forum will not show up for you.
Add your Birthday using this link --> https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...do=editprofile
2. There is a popup requirement as well, that you can agree to, it basically states this type of content wont offend you & you can then enter.
3. Dirty jokes are allowed, so again, do NOT enter the Joke forum if off color or raunchy jokes offend you.
4. Prefixes are required, you can't post a thread in the forum without one.
5. Nudity & flat out Racist Jokes are NOT allowed!
6. Swearing is allowed in the Joke itself, racist words, not so much.
7. Political jokes allowed.
8. Political discussion or debate isnt allowed.
Once you add your birthday to your profile, the Joke Forum will automagically be view able once returning to the main forum page.

On balance, though, I think the moderators have been doing a pretty good job of making the forum a much friendlier place to exchange ideas, information and opinions.

My comment was just an observation from the world I live in and not and an accusation of anyone here.

To all members & to clarify a bit.
1. Rules that were stickied by Lamont in the general discussion forum from 15 years ago matched what is hard linked at the top of the site in green labeled "Forum Rules", because thats where i copied a few of them from. That sticky is now gone.
2. The rules that are stickied in the DIY forum are not confusing at all & apply to that forum only, it simply states by Lamont dont post questions in that forum, there is no confusion there. They shouldnt be applied to your post PMK.
3. The rules that apply to the joke forum are not confusing at all & apply to that forum only. When you first entered that forum it pops up a box & clearly shows those rules apply to that forum & asks you to agree to them before you are allowed to enter that forum. Does one rule differ from the general forum rules, yes there is one: Rule #7 political jokes are allowed in that forum, Rule #8, political discussions arent allowed & arent allowed on the site period, thats why that forum has #7 & #8 in its rules. They shouldnt be applied to your post PMK.
Ive un-deleted your post PMK, as i dont see this as an arguement, those are legit questions & they've now been answered. You did however try to lump rules that are forum specific into your post, that made no sense at all.
I think this has now been cleared up for everyone.
