I love my RLS "Torpedo" model muffler. Super easy install; Great sound (Like an old British sports car); 15 less pounds to carry around compared to stock Giant muff.

Won't quite work by doing that Ivan... I've copied the following two posts over from this thread:

    https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...yker-Any-ideas

Now admittedly, that thread is aimed at Rykers, but as you can see from the posts, they are both applicable.

And for the little gain all that resulted in, even AFTER I'd also done a Cat Delete, it really wasn't worth half the effort!

So for my 2 bob's worth, especially considering the inordinate effort involved for such a little gain, plus what I've seen of the Ryker mufflers, you'd be a whole lot smarter to save yourself a LOT of wasted time & effort and buy something from someone who's tried all the variations to determine what works & what doesn't, and who does all that sorta stuff all the time! Upper right exhaust is the Ryker exhaust can. You might be able to perforate it with a 16" long drill bit from the end, but it would have to be a pretty large hole to make it sound deeper and louder.

Interestingly enough, the RLS website shows every single Spyder exhaust system "Sold Out." That's can't be a good thing, can it?

Why would you think that being 'Sold Out' is a bad thing?? Rather than being anything 'bad', I'd say it's more a reflection of how good the RLS Mufflers really are & how popular they've become! Since the word got out about how good these Mufflers are, they've become pretty popular and are really in demand, so there is a 'waiting list' for product!

Besides, you need to bear in mind that RLS is a specialist Muffler Supplier for Spyders & Rykers etc who makes his own mufflers on site, so when the demand becomes high, he gets to work like a one armed piccilo player with the crabs! Plus, like many others, he's been held up in making product for a couple of months by his last order of materials sitting just offshore in a container on a ship waiting to be unloaded! But if you check his latest thread in the Vendor's section:

    https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...ht=Rls+exhaust

you'll see that he's now catching up and moving product just as quick as he can make it/get it coated/get it sent! So if you want an RLS Exhaust, even if it shows as 'Sold Out' on the website, then you've gotta give him a yell & get on the waiting list or you'll miss out, cos right now, they're going out the door as fast as he can make them! Order now & I think there's even a discount for Spyder Lovers members; or you could sit back & wait until the website says 'In Stock' at some time in the future/maybe after Christmas, but I think that might mean you'll be waiting for a fair while....

Go on, Do It! You know you want to!

Ah Peter I meant it must be a bad thing for someone who wants to buy a system right now. Beyond that I wasn't bearing anything in mind (ask my wife!)

I installed the RLS Torpedo muffler on my 2019 RTL just a month ago and love it and the sound from it. I did not do a Cat delete just change out the muffler. Great upgrade in my opinion and Rick is great to work with. I think the "Sold Out" banner that he puts up is his attempt to protect himself from getting too far behind. I called and talked to him and ordered the Torpedo when they were marked "Sold Out" and delivery didn't take that long at all. I don't recall exactly but less than three weeks from order to delivery. I was surprised but pleased. Great product, well made and easy install. Took longer to remove the OEM muffler due to locktite on the brace under the saddle bag than anything else. Once I got that one bolt out the rest was easy and quick. Very Pleased and like the look compared to the OEM muffler that looks like it belongs on a moped.

I keep the stock exhaust. To get my helmet on I have to take my hearing aids out. Then I can't really tell the difference between the stock pipe and a wide open pipe. I rather suspect the performance difference between stock and aftermarket pipes is probably not that significant. Keeping my wife happy with a quieter pipe also factors into the equation. I know an aftermarket pipe saves a log of weight, but I should be losing that by going on a diet anyway. The large size of the stock pipe is not that noticeable with the large panniers obscuring it. Me, I'll just stay stock and not potentially invalidate my warranty. As I've got older and deafer, I have just not seen the need to change the OEM item.

All, I replace the OEM exhaust with the RLS Crusher series. Sounds great.

You are correct about Ricky being great to work with! I ordered his polished cat delete on Sunday and it arrived mid-week. Then I had a question about retention of the optional baffle so i e-mailed him and he responded promptly with the answer (you can turn the bolt around and tension it from the inside w/o drilling a hole).
Yesterday I wrestled with the install, lost a minimal quantity of knuckle blood, but got her done sans the top spring. Will tackle that when lift again to do the rear tire soon (wear bars at 5100 miles).
Cat delete with stock muffler sounds great and now I can hear the happy engine (always wear ear plugs)

Default RLS exhaust for RT Limited

Anyone with any experience with this exhaust?
Not looking to wake up the neighbors but just a little deeper sound from the bike and hopefully a little increase in throttle response with increased flow.
Got 2 brothers on my off road 750 v twin, but it is way too loud for 2 up with my better half with me on the RT.

I am starting to warm up to the idea of installing a RLS cat delete on my S2S. Just a little more rumble with reduced heat. Looks like install will be a bit more PIA on this model than my F3S. Still liking the quiet though
