Default Re: Not firing up the usual way

    Hi, I owns a 2013 ST LIMITED.

Lately I’m not able to fire-up the super immediately after pressing the mode button.
It will only fire-up after waiting for about 10secs after pressing the mode button.

At times the screen show “BAD KEY”
Same result when I try using my spare key which I seldom use.

Now it doesn’t fire-up anymore after waiting for 10secs.
It will only fire-up after I “OFF” the ignition to allow the screen to shut down and “ON” the ignition, wait for about 10secs before it can fire-up.

Anyone have such experience or advice…TIA

    Maybe signal interference.
Do you have anything attached to your key. Another chipped key, lost key tracker device or anything else electronic. Install the bare key only and see if that makes a difference.
Have you attached a phone holder with wireless charging. Disconnect it.
Have you install any aftermarket LED lights. Disconnect them.
Any other changes, repairs or additions you may have made recently.

The DESS module on 2013 and older models will keep trying over and over again, for about thirty seconds, to get the correct response from the key. If time expires with without the correct response. Bad key message will display. If it take repeated try's to get the correct response from the key but does before time expires. It will delay the start button from working.

As someone mentioned here before, spyders like lots of juice. Just because a battery is new doesn't always mean it's putting out 13/14 volts. Battery brand and shelf life can play a role in performance. A fresh battery fully charged will have 14.3 to 14.7 volts in it before startup. After startup it can drop to 12 volts or below. So if you have just 12v to start with you can have less than what's really needed to provide a good startup. 2012/13 have stators, not alternators so recovery time will even be longer.
