Installing new rear tire on my 2012 RT have a few questions
A lot of the bolts are using a yellow locktite. Can I substitute red? The tire shop in my area is saying they can’t balance the rear tire. The motorcycle shop says it’s not necessary. Just interested in your opinions.

If you are installing a good car tire on the rear it will not need to be balanced. Be sure to take off all the old wheel weights first.
I installed a General Altimax tire on mine and did not need to be balanced. I have put over 8000 miles on this tire and have not had a problem.
I use the general altimax rt 43 ( 18-22 lbs pressure) I take off the rotor for the tire guy and put the 5 bolts on with blue loctite. No balancing. Actually have it in the garage now just too tired....I did notice that my EBC semi sintered FA473V with only 4k on them are more than 1/2 worn....that's too quick as my OEM pads lasted til 16k in the rear...thoughts? 2012 RTL
You may not believe this, but I have never added any Lok-Tite to any bolt I have re-moved and then re-installed on any Spyder I have owned..... I have had every panel off dozens X's 5 over the past 12 years .... never lost a bolt or had any even loosen on there own .... I have always used Star washers on the Batt. terminals tho ..... good luck .... Mike

Some people have all the luck. I usually don't get that much Luck. So I use the blue lock-tite for my own peace of mind. Different strokes for me. Thank You. .....

The rubber rings that the nubbins on the body panels slip into. If you push the panel in dry you might push the grommet out of the hole.

A word of warning. Loctite (or generic) is DEADLY to ABS plastic. Don't let it smear out from the metal to metal onto the plastic. It makes it brittle. Technically, it leaches out the plasticizer, the polymer bonds break down and the panel will split with vibration.
No brake fluid on the paint, no loctite on the plastic. Rules to live by.
