Any idea where to service a 2008 Spyder GS SM5 in the Phoenix area?

I only know of the Ride Now in Chandler (usual place) and Ride Now Peoria that will touch a "More than 10 year old" Spyder. I think I'm having trouble with the ECM. Tech in Chandler warned me awhile ago that it was getting glitchy. Batteries have been dieing and I am getting no use of the bike. Not getting a good feel for how things are going to go with RNC after getting off the phone with them. Tried for three days to talk to somebody.
Love the bike when its running. I dont wnat to buy a newer one, but I might have to. Awfull shame if this one is only good for parts.

Talk to one of the a/mkt ECU Tuners - there's a reasonable chance that they'll be able to upgrade your ECU, resolving all your current problems AND improving your bike's performance & likely fuel economy too!
Sure, you'll probably hafta send the ECU away for a few days, and it'll cost a little; but it'll be cheaper in the long run than parting out your Spyder & buying a new one - and as a bonus you'll get all the performance enhancements/advantages of an ECU Upgrade as well as getting rid of all the glitches!

So is that a thing now, that dealers won't work on Spyders over 10 years old?

That appears to be what some are saying....don’t know if it’s a regional thing, country thing, BRP thing or just what.

Well that's certainly a bummer for people with 10 year old Spyders.

I agree, if it’s a widespread thing. I’ll believe it when it happens to me. Right now, only a few people have reported it, and we don’t know the details. My unit is a ‘14 so I still have a couple of years at least. I wouldn’t sweat it Greg.

Have seen this trend with some Honda dealers.
Sold my 2008 Gold Wing trike and bought a 2021 Spyder RTL.
Maybe I will quit riding before my next 10 years are up and I have to worry about it.

The problem is industry wide:
Parts get scarce on 10 year old bikes
Techs who can work on 10 year old bikes
Those two equal long times in shop, taking up space.
HD built their reputation on how long their bikes last does it, too.
Luckily, the new stuff is so much better!!!

What is going on with your ride? What has the past owner done to it?

When it gets to the point where I cannot get my Spyders properly serviced, I will be gone from the product. And this coming from one of the more "gung ho" owners. Been with the product from day one, owned seven. Bought two in the last two years.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.
