... I've had them on numerous touring / cruiser bikes & Spyders, and imho they are the best .... multi-adjustable, thin, can adjust lumbar for support, well made etc. and less axpensive than BRP's ..... good luck .... Mike

I have a Comfort Seat and BRP backrest wife gave me as birthday gift (only the backrest). It makes a big difference in my freshness at the end of long touring days. Whatever feels comfortable to you.

I will give a thumbs up on the BRP backrest as long as you get the correct one for your seat.

I bought mine from a For Sale post here on the site and see them come up fairly often. In fact, there is a post right now for seat and both backrests:

    Good luck,

I'm new to Spyders but my 2018RT came with the BRP backrest. I put it on to try and took it back off right away. The aftermarket ones stay down for when you swing your leg over to get on or off. The BRP is spring loaded and you have hold it down or swing you leg really high to clear it.

I went with a BRP backrest. My significant other is of short stature, 5'0", and her legs fit under the cutouts on the bottom of the BRP backrest. Otherwise, she would have to splay her legs to an uncomfortable position with some of the other backrests. I think a taller passenger wouldn't have the same problem my S.O. does.

Bunson is correct in that the BRP backrest is spring loaded, but I just use my knee to push the backrest down as I swing my leg over. It's second nature now.

Thanks AtomicEd. I was hoping someone had come up with a trick or technique for mounting the stead.

    Default Brp backrest

Several people have said good things about the BRP and others talk about the Utopia backrest.
I went with the BRP Backrest. It looks good and does the job.......
