Default Starting Issue on 2014 RTL

So I have owned the bike for about 3 weeks now and come to liking it.
Just under 27kmi on the odo so planning on doing the 28k service soon.
I have prolly started it about ~40 times so far...every time, except for 2,
it lights right up...immediately. The other 2 it cranks for 4-5 seconds then
slowly gets going. I'm thinking it may be the fuel filter that I'm planning
on changing with the 28k service.
Is this a common issue/characteristic for this year/model? Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Tom

My 14 RT has always had a long crank even with a new battery ..... my fuel filter has 63,000 mi. on it and I don't think they are related ..... good luck .... Mike

I have a 2014 RTL with 50K+ miles and agree with Mike. It happens but not a problem.

We have had our 2014 RTS since the end of January 2014. FWIW, many times it pops right to life with authority. Other times it turns over a bit longer.
I replaced the fuel filter based on age, and also replaced the battery when it was not cranking as snappy.

Neither change altered how quickly it fired up or if it cranked longer.

IME, no. With 75K on mine the only time it did not crank with authority was twice, once due to a suspected loose battery terminal connection and the second just before the original battery died. Suggestion: check the battery terminal connections just to be sure.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
    otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Often times my RT Limited cranks very slowly. When that happens, I release the starter button and immediately press it again. The second try always cranks with authority just like it is now getting full power to the starter.
