Default How do you know when your tank is low on fuel?

To tell the truth i'm guessing when to add gas to my tank, because the gauge never change on my bike.

How many miles do a full tank of gas your bike get if you don't mind me asking?

I get between 165-170 miles before the low fuel light comes on.

Switch to autonomy mode. It shows how many miles to empty. That is the most accurate.

Best way! I switch to Autonomy after I fill up on the way home a few miles from the house and I normally get 128-130 so I must Not be filling it all the way which is fine with me because All my afternoon rides are about 85-110 miles.

You are very low when the engine sputters and/or dies, but don't test it! Running an FI dry is hard on things.

That is no where near accurate.

On the Ryker, the golden rule is set your trip meter and fuel up at 140 miles.

My fuel gauge works but shows full until I get about 75 to 85 miles on a full tank. After that the bars start going down. I usually try to fuel up around 125 to 130 miles just to be safe. Like some of the others I reset the trip meter at each fill up.

If you ride a lot of local stuff, play with it and set your trip meter and ride it until the light comes on, check the mileage and go gas it up! Then you can use that as your set point and know when you have to start hunting down a gas station on a long cruise!! Good luck!

Miles to empty depends a lot on how full you get the tank. It's difficult to get the tank truly full. But on long trips, it's worth the extra effort.

I only said it was the MOST accurate. Your method requires making sure the tank is truly topped off, which requires pulling the nozzle out until gas almost spills out of the tank. Then the trip odometer needs to be reset as well. Many people don't want the hassle. They want to gas and go.

The autonomy setting has reliably shown when the tank is getting low. When it shows 20 to 30 miles left, fill the tank.

Have you ever put gas in a Ryker or are you basing your answer on your Spyder experience?

I reset the trip at every fill-up and use the autonomy setting
Full tank is about 185 miles or slightly less depending on driving style. Low fuel indicator comes on when autonomy reports 34 miles to go.

I keep an eye on the gauge and distance remaining. When the fuel bars start dropping and reach the midpoint, the distance is approx. 70ish miles. Time to fill the beast with pure unleaded petroleum. No ethanol for my lady.

Can someone explain the issue with just using the fuel gauge on the bike? When I fill up the gauge indicates approximately 277 miles and I have ridden it down to 60 to 70 miles before fill-up. Now I’m not sure if this is actual miles or an estimate based on how hard the engine is running. Would the bike run out of fuel with miles still indicated on the gauge?

There really is no issue with using the fuel gauge on the bike. The gauge just moves slowly from the full mark and drops rather quickly from the half mark down.It does show when you are low on fuel and the low fuel light works correctly.
