Challenge accepted. We weren't planning on one but yeah, we got to. Got a couple hours of video today and will get more later this week. There no doubt will be lots coming out in the next few weeks so we will try to have to approach it from a different angle like we did on the tunnel video.

250 miles today. Went all the way down to Hot Springs then back up to Spearfish via the canyon. Bikes really thinned out after the Custer Wildlife Loop. Hardly any in Hot Springs. Hwy 87 has good scenery passed the Wildlife loop that a lot of people miss, there is a pigtail bridge then a single lane arch bridge over a gorge before you get to 385. Wind Cave National Park has tons of Prairie Dogs (hard to resist the temptation to bring my rifle). Buffalo, and you might see coyotes and Elk.
Ran into heavy smoke in Spearfish until Rapid. Cold front was bringing it in from fires in eastern Montana.

Just got back from Sturgis yesterday afternoon. 825 miles each way + 500 miles of all the nice local riding. I haven't seen crowds/traffic this busy in any of my 8 past visits. Gonna be a crazy year..

Looks like a lot of people were packing up today, lots of trailered bikes on I90. Campgrounds seemed to be clearing out too. On the plus side going to hit some vendors tomorrow as prices are going down. As much as I enjoyed riding around during the rally, I think I like D3WR more. A more relaxed atmosphere.

Last time I went (75th anniv.) I had the same feelimg, very frantic,rushing around. I did find a park bench and just sit for awhile and people/bike watch. That was fun. I really did enjoy D3WR a lot more laid back.

Just curious as I have not been there in 22 years. I went 3 times all on my HD in my early 20s. How are the Spyders and other 3 wheelers treated. Any issues? They were not a big thing when I was going. I know some of the overseas bikes did not get the warmest of receptions back in the day. I would hope all of that has changed.

On my last (7) visits there, I have been there on: Spyder (2), Yamaha FZ09 (1), Triumph 800 Tiger (1) and a H-D bagger (3). NEVER any non H-D issues. That's a thing of the past. While American bikes still represent the most, non American bikes are there with a huge presence...

Indian and Vanderhall had booths there where you could test drive (and of course HD). It was supposedly a younger crowd this year, but I saw plenty of trikes and Spyders. I've never had a problem, even had a few that wanted to take pictures on or beside it. Ended up answering a lot of questions about it also. One thing about being on a Spyder was everyone else on a Spyder that I met waved, and we were well represented I think. in good humor i did get razed a little by a couple Harley guys in Keystone to which i responded "yeah as a matter of fact I do keep a roll of duct tape and mechanics wire in there in case I have to help fix a broken down Harley". got a couple laughs...
