    Default Noise on start-up

New owner, Spyder has been sitting for a week, started it yesterday and heard loud rattling noise. Went away once oil pressure came up. What was making the noise? Thanks for you input.

What year/model Spyder?? (It helps if you put that info into your signature line, that way it'll show below every post - see mine below. )

If it's the 1330 ACE Triple motor, they have hydraulic lifters, and it could be those building pressure The 1330's do always sound a bit rattly on start-up, and the F3's are noisier than most others too. So it could quite easily be a 'normal' noise that you're hearing, altho it could possibly be louder than it should be if your engine is low on oil or if it has the wrong type of oil in it.

Still, it's pretty hard 'diagnosing' this sorta thing over the internet - we really need more info to tell, including the year/model mentioned above; and a vid or sound bite wouldn't hurt either.

    Over to you.

So I put the recommended amount of Sea Foam in the crankcase and it took maybe ten miles of riding (some high rpm runs) to take effect. Quiet as could be on start up now.
