Default Q 5's coming to an end at Tirerack

Got a popup from Tirerack that the Q5's were being dropped from stock. This is what I found on their site. Looks like they have even raised the price to clear out the remainder.

Might just be that size. I just bought a set of Quatrac 5 165/60/15 from them. There is no closeout wording for this size on the site. Same price that has been for last year. $84

Checked different sizes and they were all the same. May be a difficulty in getting the supply.

I got a pop-up also ..... mine said $ 100.00 rebate if you buy 4 ..... so this would knock the price down $25.00 per tire ..... they only had One in 165/60-15 tho ..... I see your Ad said " close-out " for that size .... Mike

I would say that Vredestein is discontinuing the Q5 in favor of the later designs.

The NEW Quatrac is only out about one month .... and not much professional testing has been done yet ..... But all the tires Vredestein offers has really good ratings when compared to other Brands of the same size ..... The Q-5 was available in 13, 14, 15 & 16 in. sizes ... the new Q tire has three sizes to fit 15 in wheels on Spyders & a couple of 16in for rear of Ryker .... As with the Q-5, I have high hopes for the new " Q " tire .... Mike

Uh oh! That doesn't look asymmetric like the Q5s I have. I love the way the Q5s spray ground water only to the outside.

Wellllllllll, even the Q-5's have a preferred way to mount them. ... Since you won't have to Rotate any Vredestein tire to get uber high wear results ... I don't see this as a non-starter ....jmho .... Mike

After 3 days of 60+ mph on soaked roads watching the the water splash away from the spyder I was amazed how effective the asym. pattern worked. I will seek out asym. tires when the Q5s are done.

The water Shedding ability of Asymmetrical vs. Non-asymmetrical is so small it would be barely measurable ..... many folks here choose lower rated tires to save a couple of bucks., and the performance is way more than Asym vs. Non-asym .... this is fact - not just my opinion ...good luck .. Mike

So what’s your plan b? Looks like it’s going to be a challenge finding anything in the right size. I might be relegated to Kanine’s if my mechanic comes through.

We have learned over the years that Spyder will work fine other than the OEM sizes they came with ..... Like anything there are limits has to what will fit... a couple of sizes larger can work as long as the Aspect ratio number gets smaller ...... Mike
