    Default Hesitation from stop

    Greetings

I notice that pulling away from a stop, there is a slight hesitation, like a clutch is not fully engaged. Then it locks up and everything is fine. I know it is a semi-automatic, that is just my best description.
It does it most of the time. I can minimize it if I am light on the throttle.

    Is this normal?

    Thank you for any help.

When was your last oil change, did you do it yourself? What did you use for oil if you did do it? Have you checked your oil level?

It'll do it if it's not fully warmed up to normal operating temperatures.

KX, have you experienced this too?

The latest experience with this was a ride around town, operating temp was the temp gauge in the center top.

    Thanks

First thing, that pops in my mind, is the hillhold function, this works to prevent from rolling back, when on a incline, It will disengage after a second or so.
Maybe yours is just to tight.

My new 2020 F3L also does this hesitation from cold start until the engine has warmed up a little. Such is Not an oil level cause/solution, but rather a simple fuel, engine temp and air temperature combination situation. The oil will be circulating from almost the moment the engine turns over, regardless of where on the dip stick the level is (even from below the lower level mark). All quite normal across the board for all engines from cold start.

When I first start mine, when I give it throttle, the engine goes all over the place as I wait for it to engage. I need it running for 5 minutes or so before all that ridiculousness goes away. Once that happens, it wont happen again until I start it cold again.

My old 2016 F3T did the same thing. Drives me nuts, but it is what it is.

Bought my 2104 RT LE just over two months ago and throttle hesitation from a stop is one of the few issues with my Spyder I find annoying. Once moving no issues. Seems to be common from what I have read. Could put an aftermarket product on to compensate, or have the ECU mod by Monster Fuel Injection. Depends on how annoying it is to you, and how much do you want to spend to get rid of it.

A question that I don't have an answer to as don't have a Spyder.......Yet. What actuates the clutch, is it centrifugal force from the engines RPM, I know that the clutch disengages at idle. Or could it be hydraulically actuated, thus a very sluggish engagement when a cold newly started engine.

Hill hold? My '16 T will roll back or forward on an incline in 1st without the brake. Best to start the bike then put on your gear then get on the bike and ride. Should be warm enough.

I had a typo in my reply and meant to say that mine will do it when it's cold and NOT up to operating temperature. My 14 was worse than my 2020, and the 14 had a slight stumble off of idle if you wacked the throttle too hard. I had the shop look at it at the time under warranty and they found nothing wrong, so I just made sure to not hit the throttle too hard, especially when not fully warmed up.

My 2021 RTL also has a flat spot that is noticeable when taking off from a dead stop. It’s worse when it hasn’t fully warmed up but it’s still there even after reaching operating temp. It’s just noticeable enough to be annoying.
