Believe the coolant temp sensor is on top of the engine somewhere by the middle spark plug around the intake and the water pump looks to be next to the oil filter in the middle.

[B]Thermostat Test Water pump module installed in vehicle Start engine and let engine heat up to operating temperature (higher than 80°C (176°F)). Check if the main supply hose from radiator to water pump module heats up with engine at operating temperature.
THERMOSTAT The thermostat is included in water pump module.

Another part on my manual has the sensor left side of the engine.
CTS Access Refer to BODYsubsection and remove: – LH middle side panel – LH top side panel – LH acoustic panel.
Then this says in the manual
Coolant temperature sensor is located on the cylinder head.
Sorry Lew its one or the other. The left side sounds easier to get to.

Something else to check is your radiators to make sure they are not plugged up. I know Ann Mayer's 2014 RT had her radiators replaced at the BRP homecoming due to plugged radiators. I also had overheating issues on my 2015 F3 due to plugged radiators. I ended up pulling both out and spent 5 hours cleaning the junk out from the packed fins.

If it is not running hot (water boiling out of pressure cap) then it's probably just a sensor. I would try that 1st if the radiator is not stopped up.
I have never looked at a water pump on a spyder but on other vehicles I have saw the fan/propeller loosen enough to where it spins on the shaft after the coolant heats up enough to cause a over heating condition. If I were to take it off I would without a doubt replace both the water pump and thermostat. Don't waste your time taking it off to inspect then put it back on. Depending on age I might even replace the hose's.

Thanks guys------ will try to get to the sensor today. I've had those panels off before. I haven't ever heard of a sensor going bad here but with all the sensors on ALL our vehicles----------------------There will be failures.

Is the sensor on the back of the motor???? ---- seems like it from the cheapcycleparts.com schematic drawings. Air box is exposed.

On the left side next to the frame looks like a two prong connector and is attached to the engine. Below the center console
I guess it could be considered the back.
Wish I could post the picture.
If you disconnect while the engine is running it will cause the fans to turn on. Per the manual

Well I've got it in sight. I was planning on draining and replacing the coolant anyway. Tight spaces. Not sure how to get the electrical plug undone though. Any tips on draining the coolant??? I know not to use the drain plug but undo hose.
Thanks again for all your help so far. Will need service manual info on testing the temp sensor.

I will copy and send the test for the sensor when i get home
To drain remove the right lower radiator hose. It will be tight. And the clamp has to be cut off

If CTS is disconnected while vehicle is powered, the ECM will cause the cooling fans to come on, possibly resulting in injury. 2. Disconnect CTS connector. 3. Using a multimeter set to " ", measure the resistance through the CTS resistance and compare the resistance value obtained to the sensor temperature table. REQUIRED TOOLS FLUKE 115 MULTIMETER (P/N 529 035 868) CTS SENSOR Pin 1 Pin 2

Sorry was copying and pasteing from the manual. Basically its temperature. Then resistance value reading you should get when testing the sensor. I will try and fix it later.
