Default Foam Deteriorating Behind Panels - anyone else??

Has anyone else had to replace the foam behind the black side panel that is in front of the oil filter? I have a 2014 RTL. My husband did an oil change today and noticed it was deteriorating.

Yes, the heat gets to them; mine is going south too. I think but before ordering I would call a dealership parts dept and confirm if it is the RH Upper Lateral Panel Foam, PN 705009314 (a changed PN found on Cheap Cycle Parts at $30.99, ouch). It's to be sure just what panel foam it is because of the way BRP displays some of their parts views.

Yes this will occur over time .... If you want to change it / them I would use something else .... google heat SHIELD and dozens X dozens of products will show up .... some are even Spray - On .... others are a combination of materials with an alumin. top layer with a stick-on bottom layer ( after foam removal clean well, lastly use alcohol ..... goos luck ... Same happened to our 2014. I removed all the foam sections. Replaced with upgraded insulation we use on aircraft interiors. Was worth the effort since the Spyder is now quieter and better insulated to keep heat away from the riders.

It’s called expensive...I used some leftovers from when I installed the upgraded soundproofing in the Beechcraft.

One site had that size for only a mere $294.

Thanks for the words, Mike. Old, dead brain couldn't come up with them at the end of a busy day. Will do mine at next oil change.

Considering the Skandia stuff I used was free, it was a bargain for me. As for just as good, maybe, but unlikely.

The Skandia soundproofing I used is a self adhesive product. Yes, there is a layer of sound absorbing foam, and on top, adhered to the foam is a layer of silicone rubber sheet that is about 1/16” thick.

Far superior to oem stuff that turned to goo. Reduced the heat and noise from the vehicle that the riders feel or hear.

Being a certified part 25 aviation product, it must also pass burn cert tests. My guess is that the materials used will not burn and catch fire, and if they did, the materials must self extinguish.

Merely using up stuff we had rather than discarding it.

I did have a look at Summitt Racing. Maybe a misprint, but the spec states the Scott Drake Black insulation is almost 1 inch thick. Oem is pretty thin, likely 1/4” or maybe 3/8” thick. Stuff I used was about the same. Possibly there is clearance, but an inch is kind of thick.
