Default Want to hook a Satellite Radio into the existing Sound System?

Hello everyone. As a new owner of a Spyder RT SE5 can anyone steer me to a good satellite radio setup and how to hook into the existing sound system? The Spyder came to me with a power outlet in the center of the handlebars and a Ram mount X Grip holder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What year? You might be better off just using your smart phone thru a bluetooth link.

I use my phone and the XM app. Works great with Bluetooth and costs nothing if you already have an account

I have the XM receiver mounted in my glove box ( 2014 RT ) I have pics with explanation of them in my Albums ..... works great . Love my " oldie's " ...... as far as hook-up, I used the OEM connection from right side of trunk and followed the XM directions .... pretty simple ..... PS: I have only paid $ 30.00 for six month subscription for the past 4 years ..... good luck .... Mike

Depending on the model satellite receiver, you can send it to the radio via FM signal. Just tune the radio into that freq. and Viola! I have my corvette set up this way. Works just fine. The Satellite receiver has to have a FM transmitter in it, or you can add an FM transmitter to any audio output.

I have a 2014 RTS-SE6 and I want to hook-up a Sirus Xm satellite radio to my existing radio.

What Sirus-Xm model should I get?

I want to hook up the Sirus Xm in the trunk of the spyder.

I already have the Sirus XM radio in my car, also I am a subscriber.

I hooked up Sirius portable radio in trunk connection. Antenna is just inside top part of trunk or I will Velcro to center of top of trunk if on a trip. Just set radio to accessory. Set satellite radio to station of choice.

Since you are a subscriber you can download the Sirius app on your smartphone. Plug your phone into the USB in the frunk to keep the battery charged. Play xm on the phone bluetooth to the Spyder. Easy and free.

Just a warning, several years ago I had xm radio on three vehicles at $44.00 for every 3 months.
All of a sudden I noticed that they were charging me $44.00 a month!
I suggested that the go make love to themselves, but not that nicely!
    Beware!
And by the way, I was an original subscriber!
    Never again!

I have Sirius XM for my Spyder .... Their renewal policy *ucks.... Normally it's for 6 mos. and then it will Renew AUTOMATICALLY, unless you cancel it or put it in SUSPENSION ( for 6 mos. ) ... however they don't give you 6 mo. of suspension .... they contacted me via e-mail and said the NEW renewal period would start 6 weeks earlier than 6 mo. ..... talking to them is useless they just LIE and agree to what you want ... then do what they feel like ..... good luck .... Unfortunately that is not always true. I was one of the first subscribers when they offered the lifetime membership, which is what I did. Not only am I unable to get a free hookup for my phone, I cannot even get a hookup for $10.00 per month.
I still have my Sirius, but never use it......I now live in a mountainous area of British Columbia, Canada and most times I receive no signal at all. I gave up using it.

I have been a subscriber since 2012 (my first RTL, now a 2014). Each year I reach out to XM just before expiration and tell them I want to renew at the same rate and have streaming capability, otherwise good-bye as there are many other music options. I paid $69.00 for this years subscription, I stream to my phone for my car and to my PC's and tablets. I ride all year long so do not suspend it during the winter months.

I agree with BLueknight that they do not suspend for 6 mo. I believe it's 4 mo. and if you do not contact them they automatically renew at the highest price which is why you must make the call. In 10 years, I have never been lied to and they always provide me with the lowest price.

6 mos. vs. 4 mos. ... I've had XM for 6 years, and they have always told me it was for SIX months .... and it used to be ... however the last 2 years they been shorting the 6 mos. suspension ... and I have to call them and get it straightened out ...... PS I have only been paying $ 5.00 per month ( for six months ./.... good luck .... Mike

Deanna, no you don’t need a harness. Plug it in the same as any MP3 player, and also plug it into the cigarette lighter outllet for the power. Just buy the ones for automobiles.

Don't forget you'll need some place to put the antenna.

There was an XM system like that in the trunk of my '14 RTS when I got it. It's in a bag in the garage if you want it.

You are lucky....I’m unable to get streaming, they recognize that I’m getting the service, but they tell me that I don’t have a membership number and CANNOT have streaming without, ergo NO streaming thru my cel phone.
