Engine gets louder on downshift & engine braking - why?
My 2018RTL seems to be getting louder when engine braking between downshifts. Seems to run fine, checked oil level and that’s good. Quieter when holding steady engine speed. I get a little engine knock when I first start and once in a while at idle.

Is this 'getting louder' above & beyond that coming from the 'rev matching' blips that the computer initiates whenever you change down??
Spyder engines, in fact, most IC Engines do tend to 'rattle' or knock a bit when first started; altho a 'knock' at idle isn't something you'd expect. Still, any chance you could record it (on a vid?) and post it up here? In the vid, tell us when you can hear the noises so we can get some idea of what you are concerned about?!

Must be a prototype model if a 2028 year! Should be electric or hydrogen by then.

Front drive pulley splines is a good place to start looking for an answer. Likely worn and getting ready to completely fail.

I find when shifting up or down (SE6) holding the throttle absolutely still is what the bike wants for smooth, quiet shifts.
Ours is a red, black and chrome 2017 F3 Limited. Bought new in 2/2019. The avatar is my first bike back in 1952, a Simplex Servi-Cycle. Photo taken at the Barber Museum.
