Default Ontario Canada Spyder Ryders...recommendation on a shop to install actual tires?

I'm in the Southwest part of Ontar-i-owe and need to replace the crap rear tire the Spyders come with. Seen lots of posts recommending various tire options but having a hell of a time finding a shop here who (a) know how to do it and (b) will do it. Wondered if anyone had a shop they have used on this side of the border they would recommend?

Even though I’m north of the border,I’m too far west. Will you’re Spyder dealer not do it? Here in BC I just take my Spyder to my local Spyder shop and he’ll put on anything I bring him. At the moment, I have the crappy tire on the rear, but I brought him Vredestein tires for the fronts and he put them on for me. Talk to your dealer....get to know him.

My nearest dealer is a 3 hour drive... and when I raised the subject he made it clear he only installs what BRP provides him with. Hoping someone closer has an option that is better than those ....

I'm being lazy .... are you near Vermont .... if so there's a dealer in Derby line ( on Rt 5 ) that you should contact. I'm pretty sure they will mount anything .... even a Crapenda ... tho they don't recommend them ..... Mike or you can come down to my house ( 05660 ) we can take the wheel off and bring it a friend of mine ( K & W tire ) and they will mount it .... and you can stay over-nite ..... PM me if interested .... Mike Wellllllllllllll I got un-lazy and checked the map .... you are quite a distance from me too bad

Maybe just tackle the job yourself. A tire shop will mount and balance your tire. I am going to be doing mine in the next couple weeks. My General AltiMAX RT43 Radial Tire - 215/60R15 94T rear tire is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I have these tools to take on the job, along with a torque wrench. Also have the 3/8 drive 36mm socket that I use for oil filter removal along with a 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapter.

Mike, pre-Covid border shutdown last year we had a trip planned to Vermont and New Hampshire, and if the border EVER opens again, it will be high on the list to head to again. Thanks!!

Because of the distance you would have to travel we need to co-ordinate this well in advance .... and I enjoy company so two will work out just the same. ..... keep me posted ..... Mike

We use Roberts motor sports in Malone, NY. Cross the border at Cornwall, Ont. It's about 40 miles to Malone.

Not sure where in Ontario you are,had mine done at Port Perry Automotive. Ask for the owner Randall Jones 905 985 1989 had a tire put on there last fall. He's a spyder rider and can do the tear down or take wheel in. I had a Toyo Proxes 4 put on nice tire and a big improvement over the Kenda , good service and fair prices.

Thanks for that!! I'm in Leamington so about a 5 hour drive to Port Perry... but it is an option worth considering for sure since to even get a Kenda crap tire I'm past Tillsonburg so... appreciate it!

I must be lucky. The local tire shop will install any tire I want. As long as I take the wheel off and take it to them. They can't balance it but will put beads in. Also in town there is a Kawasaki dealer and small engine shop that will install any tire I want. Static balance or beads. 1/2 hour drive away there is an independent motorcycle repair shop that does a lot of tires. He keeps Kenda Kanines in stock. A lot cheaper then the OE tires. As for a car tire, he may not install one for a stranger. That pesky Ontario law is a problem. But you can call and ask. But still a 3 hour drive for you. I have a Kanine on the rear now now. It works fine. A lot cheaper then an OE tire. The only tire I had a real big issue with was the Kuhmo. It sucked. Did not stick to the road. I liked the Yokohama and the B. F. Goodrich tire I tried.

You need to start calling local tire shops and independent motorcycle repair shops and find out what they can do for you.
