    Default Battery tender hookup

I have a 2017 RTL. Can I use a battery tender by connecting it to the outlet in the trunk. I realize I will need to switch the fuse from position number 6 to number 7.

    Thanks for any help.

My preference is the Battery Minder Plus and it can be found at Amazon.

I'm partial to the Deltran Battery Tender brand.

I've used a Battery Tender Jr. since I bought my Spyder. Walmart has them online for about $31, Amazon for $25. The selling dealership comped one and installed the fused pigtail to the battery. I can use the pigtail to power my emergency compressor if necessary which I would not do with the trunk receptacle.

NAPA has one I use much of the time. You can find any number of units at big box stores, Amazon, and auto parts. Just make sure you buy one that clearly states "battery maintainer". If it says charger or trickle charger but does not say maintainer do not buy it!

As usual Spyder Ryders come through with first class information. Thanks to all.

Fuse isn't sufficient. From the factory it's only 5 amp and a compressor is more like 10 amps. Or did you mean battery tender? If so, the trunk receptacle works just fine for a tender.
