What portable air compressor do you use?

I'm trying to find an air comp for emergency on road use. What do you guys use? Everything I've seen has a cigarette lighter power plug, Is there4 an adapter to go from lighter to USB?

Are there compressors that run from USB? I've seen battery powered compressors, but don't think these are practical for me.

I ride a 2019 F3-T if that is of any help.

I took a small (and cheap) Harbor Freight 12 volt compressor and removed the bulky plastic covering. What's inside is a lot smaller. Put a base on it made of sheet aluminum. Cut off the cigarette lighter plug and put an SAE connector on it and I plug it into the charger pigtail in the frunk.
This compressor and a Dyna Plug fit nicely into a small point and shoot camera case.
Do not use a USB port, they are only 5 volt and 2 amp at best. You need a 12 volt supply.

USB connection would not provide enough power to run any size air compressor.

Whatever you choose to purchase, the most important factors are the size of the wiring you plan to plug the compressor into and whether or nor that wiring is properly fused to handle the compressor current draw.

Don't think you will find anything that could be powered by USB and if you did it would probably take over an hour to air a tire,

I bought a halo from QVC. Multipurpose and IMO well worth it. I got mine for a decent price during black Friday sales.

I don’t carry a compressor since it’s too bulky for me. I picked up and carry five CO2 bottles from a local bicycle shop. I also have an adapter that has a plug that goes into the tire valve and another you connect the CO2 bottle. There’s a valve in between so that you can stop the flow and check the poundage. I’ve plugged a lot of guys tires on the road and it takes about three CO2 bottles to fill the tire. You can pick up spares at any bike shop. It works very well, the package is very light and it doesn’t take up a lot of room.

I have the HD one. Not as compact as some but comes with all the bits including an extension and plugs directly into the same connector I use for the battery charger.

I tried that routine with motorcycle......I used five to only fill tire halfway.......not good when trying to find source of leak.....sorry, I wouldn’t recommend this......carry a compressor,they don’t weigh much.

Rechargeable battery & 12DC cig plug adapter quite handy & comes with its own pouch . Right size have cig plug on bike but also recharge battery every 90 days along with other lithium battery’s for devices or the jump packs. Could also rig up a cig plug with battery clamps. Usb power not enough volts or amps for a compressor without being fire hazard.

I like the Bauer Harbor Freight one. But it maybe to big for some to carry in the Spyder. I do like the quick filling and auto shutoff when it gets to the pressure you set it at.

It's slightly smaller than a typical cordless drill and it lasts forever on a charge. I can't honestly tell you how many tires I've pumped up on just a single charge. It also has a built-in gauge with auto shutoff when it reaches the desired psi.

For what it's worth... I also have the halo from QVC that was mentioned earlier. I would recommend it as well but this is more affordable if all you need is a pump.

I have many Milwaukee cordless tools and batteries, so I bought the m12 inflator and keep it in my hardshell pelican case.

The Stop and Go mini compressor is on amazon for $37.93. I've had this for 2 years. I've never had a flat but I've tested this to see if it would over heat and fail which is the most likely thing to happen to these small comps and it has easily run long enuf to fill the rear tire up to about 25 lbs. It doesn't seem to have the guts to go much over 25 psi. It has a guage which is pretty accurate. This and a couple of string type plugs with the string installing tools is all I carry. It uses a cigarette plug or can go right to battery with alligator clips.

I have a Slime pump that come in a nice compact case. It has a power pigtail that plugs directly into my battery charger pigtail. It stays in the bike but has never been needed. At home I have a cordless Ryobi 18V compressor. The pump and battery are about the size of a good size cordless electric drill. It is VERY handy and will easily take care of my car, trailer, golf cart, and bike tires. The pump itself is very inexpensive. The batteries are not. But, I use it a lot at home and find it well worthwhile..... Jim
