Default Is the Paint on the 2020+ RT's softer than on earlier Spyders?

Has paint on the newer spyders 2020 & up become a softer mix than what was on older bikes? My 2012 silver colored RT did not scratch or show swirl marks like my new 2020RTL (marsala red) I think it needs a clear coat applied. Seems to me that there paint needs more hardener in it. Maybe add some Viagra that lasts more than 4 hours.

From my shopping experience last fall for my 2020 RT the answer is YES, the paint is 'soft'. Even one of the dealers complained about all the hairline scratches on the new models. I bought the chalk white in hopes that the scratches would be less noticeable.

This has come up before. I think the concensus was that BuRP switched to water based paint.

Well that must B the case, Too much softener salt in the water. I believe the water out of my sink is harder than the paint on my bike. I think that if I stare at one point on the frunk long enough it will start to run. Guess the answer is, "let ur ride"

My previous Spyder was a 2012 RTS Magnesium Metallic (silver with metallic flecks)..... had a DEEP shine... always looked clean.
Love my 2019 RT White (dark version), but can not reproduce that 2012 shine. Anyone have a wax or gloss cleaner solution to... 'bring back the shine"?

Actually because of stricter air regs in Canada BRP has always used water-based paint ..... Mike

Could the painted surfaces be resprayed with a hard clear coat? I am no painter so I thought I would ask.

I believe you would have to do a very, very light wet sanding before clear coating,(with extra coats). It may not bond otherwise, But have heard you do NOT use oil base over water base, would be sure to ask a paint expert before trying it on my $$$ bike. My theory about this is', DON'T try this at Home!
