    Default 2019 F3T - can I convert to top case w/linq?

    Greetings

Is it possible to upgrade a 2019 F3T to the L top case 2020 Linq.

What I want is a top case but the flexibility to quickly/easily remove it when not needed.

I like my T but sure would like to add a top case or add a passenger backrest (integrated) for a passenger.

    Thank you

I don't think LinQ was added to any bike until 2020. I'm pretty sure prior to that, the F3 Limited top case was connected to the bike with (4) bolts. IF (and I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong) the 2019 F3T/L had the LinQ system, you could buy the $1600 BuRP top case or you could do what I did and add a Shad top case (in my case, I used the SH58X) to the LinQ base for around $800.

Our 2019 F3L does NOT have the Linq system. Our 2020 F3L does.

IMO, neither top trunk is worth $2K. We bought the L models so we did not have to pay more later.

You mention you have both a 2020 and 2019 F3L. Besides the easy trunk removal on the 2020 and the audio controls that are on the tank are there any other differences? I thought I read somewhere the trunk shape is different on the 2020?

It appears that now, the 2020 F3L has the same top trunk as the 2020 RT. It is larger than the 2019 F3L top trunk. "They" say, the new top trunk will hold two full size helmets. I have not tried that yet, because we each have our own F3's. Yes, she got the newer one.

Our 19 is the "chrome" version, and the 20 is the "dark" version. Other than the top trunk, the audio controls, and some variation with the color scheme, I do not detect any other differences in the models from 19 to 20.

It seems to depend on the size of the helmets - it doesn't hold my Neotech 2 together with my wife's modular Shark. Still, there is plenty of room for one in the frunk, and I would think there are lots of helmets where you can fit two in the 2020 RT-L.

Can you show a photo of this machine with the Shad top box installed?

I added the top case to my wives 2020 RT. It ran about $1600, but she just loves it. Now she can ride her mother safely, and carry much more when we head out of town. Not to mention the added USB ports, and speakers. No, it's not cheap, but there is a lot going on with it.

Does it look to you that the Linq System would mount on the 2019 F3L (without the 2019 F3L topbox).

Got my F3L with a $1K rebate and $1K more on my trade in than book. Also got free freight and set up and no install fee on my accessories. I think I did OK and can rationalize I may have got my trunk set up for free.

Concerning the easy trunk removal...I am assuming you are referring to the top case. I was getting my notes and pictures together today to start a thread about the top case removal for my 2021 F3 Ltd. What I am doing---I remove the passenger seat, raise the top case and I see there is a braided cable or wire connected to a bolt in the bike gping up into the top case...along with a single black wire and then there are the arms connected to the passenger bars...have you heard about how this is considered removable? My dealer even ordered me a rear fairing / fender to replace the top case when not in use...so, yeah...thoughts?
Life's short...Play it by ear and ryde!
