I was fortunate (old enough) to see Henry Aaron play as both a Milwaukee Brave and Milwaukee Brewer. I actually saw him homer at one game

I wonder if he may have had undiagnosed sleep apnea. Sleep apnea will cause oxygen levels to drop to a dangerous level which can lead to death. If you snore at night, or go to the bathroom several times in the night, get checked. Otherwise you might also "die quietly in your sleep".

He was a great one, and sorry to see him go.
There are a number of conditions that can cause passing away during sleep. But, as ARtraveler mentioned, there were no disease or medical conditions noted. However, you are correct in that you should be proactive in being checked out.
