    Default What's it worth?

Was looking at purchasing a Spyder (my first) . Its a 2018 F3 (non S) with about 4k miles on it. Has Elkas front and rear and rear seat. Owner wants 14k for it but seems kinda high compared to KBB. Thoughts?

I don't know much about the F3 but I'd add about $500 for the Elkas and the rear seat. Earlier Elkas had a tendency to leak and most aftermarket shocks generally have to be rebuilt every few years. 4000 miles isn't much so that's a plus but I'd say that's about average for a (3) year old bike (although a lot of us ride 2-3x that every year).

Assuming the bike's in excellent condition, I'd offer somewhere between private and trade in values. I'd also ask if the owner has purchased any extended warranty. The B.E.S.T. warranty can be purchased fairly cheaply but you can't buy it after the original/factory warranty has expired. Since the F3 you're looking at is probably at the end of the factory warranty (if it hasn't already expired), that's something to consider.

I agree with all the comments above. I do believe that $14k is too high. You might be able to get a left over 2020 for that price. I also try to pay between trade in value and private party value. As for the add ons, they are not going to add to the price of what I am willing to pay.

KBB is a good "ball park" price indicator. The retail price is mostly a joke these days. You will note it is $4K or better from the wholesale/trade-in price. The "magic" price is somewhere between wholesale and private party sale. Those who value and try to sell them for KBB or NADA retail, usually don't get lucky with a sale.

Accessories are worth between 10% to zero in most cases. I would not pay a premium for the shocks. Also suggest you have a dealer search the VIN and get a service history.

We recently bought 19 and 20 F3L's. In both cases, my price was $14K ball park plus trade for new. IMO....$14K used for 2018 is way to much.
