Rear Tire Replacement
I have a 2011 RTS SE5 with over 30,000 miles and the dealership want to charge me 250.00 to change my rear tire, are they trying to rip me off or is that a good deal?

If your handy with tools, and have a place to do it, you can find all kinds of you tube video's that will take you step by step on removal of the rear tire, then you could have a new tire put on your rim and save yourself a little service charge money! But if your not comfortable with wrenching then your right, rock and a hard place!! How about a friend??

If you R&R the wheel yourself, you can have a much superior car tire mounted at a regular auto/tire shop for less $$.
Ours is a red, black and chrome 2017 F3 Limited. Bought new in 2/2019. The avatar is my first bike back in 1952, a Simplex Servi-Cycle. Photo taken at the Barber Museum.

Was this at Mancuso? I recently priced a tire change at the gulf freeway one near the beltway on 45 and they wanted to charge me to 260 for tire change not including tire. At the LaMarque Mancuso they are charging me 160 to change the tire not including tire. My RT is there now. There is a member on here that was charging less but he couldn't get me into his shop until mid January. I'll use him next time and he sells/installs car tires on the Spyders. His info is below.
Also my direct email is jcthorne@thornolis.com and our web site at thornolis.com

IMHO, 2 hours is excessive to change the rear tire. I'm not a mechanic but I'm 'handy" and I R&Red plus balanced in ~1 hour for the 1st time last month when switching to Q5 tires. I would think a professional shop would be more skilled and do it in similar or faster time. The hardest part is getting the spyder high enough to drop the wheel.

OK, last year I had all 3 tires "made new" (labor only) for $120 in the Phoenix area. Look for a privateer who has worked on Spyders. They are out there at reasonable prices.

Unless your going to be doing this a Lot of times its probably better to Pay $250 IF they allign the wheel properly because this can take a couple tries and each try is about 30 Minutes to adjust and test?

I have the 2020 TR Ltd. I took off the wheel myself. Took it to my dealer. I had them order the new Kanine. Charged me $ 129 for tire and installed and balanced on the rim. Then I reinstalled the rim.

I had my tire, drove to the mechanic in Daytona (I live in St. Augustine but this guy comes highly recommended) and got tire changed. He said my brakes needed replacement so I agreed to do it. Total price $180. It took him less than an hour after I checked in. BTW he did not do all the stuff the videos show. He jacked up bike from back and took wheel off. That is bound to save a heck of a lot of time aince he removed none of the tupper ware.

There is no need to remove any plastic to remove a rear wheel. I have done 3 tires on my RT and never removed any plastic. Watch some you tube videos on how to do it and go for it.

On an F3 or F3S you have to remove the rear fender.

I know you done tons of these, maybe hundreds, but I never had to remove the rear fender on my F3 or F3-S(Daytona) to remove my rear wheel. I didn't take the rear shock bolt out either. Just jack it up high enough after pulling the axle and it rolls right out.
