Default Issue with audio line in cable

Hi all, i just bought a 2016 f3-t which i am loving but when i went to attach an audio device to the line in cable, it didnt work. I tested another device and same issue so i know its the cable. I thought it would be an easy fix but when i researched it, the cable piece is long and expensive to replace.

    Any suggestions or fixes?
