    Default How many have tried Wilbers Shocks?

    curious how many have tried the wilbers? cost seems better...
    2012 RT A&C bought new 42312 sold July 2018 56k miles currently driving a 2014 RTSE6 LTD bought October 2018 w 6800 miles nicely farkled

    Had them on my BMW RT. Big improvement over stock and the stockers weren't bad. They have a pretty big presence in the BMW world. No clue how their Spyder offerings rate.

    It has a decent review online but I haven't tried their products before.

    Looks like pricing on their site shows $1,199. How is that cheaper?

    You might want to check in with Peteoz, AbNormy.

    IIRC he's kitted out his F3 with Wilburs all round, and I believe they are really working well for him; & I think that's after he tried some of the competitors shocks!

    I have them on my 17 RTL. A mate and I swapped so that he could test them with his better half and within 20kms I could see the smiles on their faces. he ordered new shocks the next day.

    I have been very very impressed with them, and they have solved a lot of handling issues that the OEM shocks cant fix

    • more stability in rough cornering,
    • less twist in the front,
    • anti-dive like behavior from the valving,
    • "adjust-ability" that allows you to tune them to the ride you are having
    • more confidence in the wet
    • more feedback from them to the rider (even my wife recognizes some things now)
    • great ride around town where you notice the smoothness straight away
    • the ability to adjust the rear without being a contortionist
    • complements the air shock nicely by controlling the rebound and compression, removing the pogostick type effect.


    if you have an RTL with the auto-leveling, it may upset the auto-leveling when the system is raising the rear, but this is easily dealt with.

    In Australia the set that I have costs approx $3500 (with the external rear shock adjuster). I'd spend it again if I bought a newer model and found they dont fit.

    My response is exactly the same as Askitee, AbNormy. Unfortunately, I have only had the Wilbers, and not their competitors, so I can’t comment from that aspect. For me at 300lbs, they work an absolute treat and have been trouble free for 3 years. I have to say that I don’t remember them being cheaper than the competitors when I was searching. Just make sure you are comparing shocks with similar levels of features

    these don't need rebuilding as often as the ones Lamont sells do they?

    That I'm not sure about, I havent been able to find anyone who has needed to rebuild them. I am of the understanding they have kits like other manufacturers.

    On a side note, Wilburs asked for :
    • What riding style did I want them set up for - Sport/ Sport+Touring/Touring
    • How often am I two up or towing
    • What weight am I and my pilion, with our gear on (if you're married you'll find this the hardest to get accurately)
    • What ride height I wanted (current or slightly lower)

    Yeah, I don’t know if you don’t hear of Wilbers requiring rebuilding because there are far fewer of them on the site, or if they genuinely last longer, Ab. I have had no issues with mine in 3 years.

    ......and as soon as I told the vendor - weight....140kgs (300lbs).... he didn’t ask about whether I rode 2up, or the ride height I wanted, Askitee. ...... looks like I just got the upper limit on everything

    Their web site shows $1199.00 for the front pair, and says the rear is required. It shows the rear at $695.00 until you click on it, then it magically becomes $766 or higher!
