Default fuel cap fix - any way to make the F3 cap easier to latch?

Is there anyway to make the fuel cap easier to latch on a F3T? Really don't want to spend $190.00 for the keyless one from Lamonster.

A light coating of grease on the rubber seal will work or a coating of WD40 seems to help as offers have posted. My 2017 F3 Limited doesn't have a problem latching the gas cap. Only telling what others have done to their gas caps to make them easier to latch. Hope this helps.

The only time on mine that it's hard to latch it is if I forget to turn the key to the right while closing it. As long as I turn the key, the cap closes and latches without issue.

I had a bitch of a time closing mine until I was told the above. I would add, after turning key to right and the cap drops down, nearly closed, put pressure with your left hand on front of cap, then turn key left to latch it.

Lubricate the sliding part of the latch with the bevel on the end.

A hydraulic ram was needed to close mine. So I dismantled it and filed down the top of the latch about 1/16" plus smear some silicone lube on the rubber seal. Works great now.
If you are going to attempt this, stuff a rag in the hole to prevent bits from falling into the tank. No, it didn't happen to me.

Shim it. Get a beer can and tin snips. Remove the cap assembly, shim it with washers you made from the beer can. It will work perfectly. Needs to come up just a touch.
