Default Hot smell - any ideas on what to check?

Been getting a heavy smell of hot metal after riding then stopping, like for lunch. Can't remember having it before. This is 2018 F3 Limited. Got new in 2018. Checked coolant level - ok, fans seem to be working normally, temp gauge is reading in center - as usually does. Bike seems to be running fine. Removed right and left side covers, inspected but found nothing.
Any ideas of what else I can check. ???

I have a ‘19 T and it stills does it @4500 miles. If you find the cause I would love to hear the solution.

    I started a thread here

There might be some ideas to check out.

Look for road pizza possom parts on top of the catalytic converter, slung up there by the back tire. Sometimes just wet mud slung up there and baking mud pies.

That is a possibility for sure. I am amazed at the road pizza's that we encounter on every ride.

We have seen armadillos, possums, raccoons, skunks, snakes, squirrils, cats, dogs, and buzzards.

Developed the smell after the first ride on my F3. After the fourth ride, i decided to look underneath and found a plastic shopping bag, rather thick one, melted on the cat. Had to use a heavy duty razor knife to get most of the remnants off the cat. One more ride after that it all burned off. Now i look under after every ride, LOL.

If you need a change from the smell of road pizza baking on the Spyder, go up and ride through Amish Country where the black buggies ride on the roads pulled by horses. Meadow muffins baking on the engine has a different odor. Front tire on my old Sportster would throw layers of meadow muffins on the front of the engine and it would bake on there. You can dodge some of them, but if it starts raining, there is plenty in the road water to bake a good layer on the hot parts of the engine.

Found on top of CAT a wad of asphalt millings. Must be source of the smell when engine is hot. Couldn't get it off so I'll just let it burn off.
