2020 RTL Removing Brake Fluid Reservoir
How do you remove the brake fluid reservoir on a 2020 RTL to move it out of the way to do your oil change?

On mine there is a small tube spacer on the back of the bracket. Pulling that out from the side allowed the brake res to pull free.

I used a hemostat to grasp the tube end and pull it free. Tried with bent needle nose pliers and it was difficult.

Just lift up (less than 1/2 inch) and pull out. Disconnect the wires on the sides first. Once you pull it out, you'll see how easy it fits in.

Mine won't pull out without removing the black locking tube. It's about an inch long by 1/8.

Remove black tube, lift.
To get the tube out, small needlenose pliers. Hard to see, easy to drop!

That's why I used a hemostat. They lock closed on the tube so there is little chance of dropping it behind the panels.

Got it!
Got it, Joe. Do you put it back in when reinstalling? I ask because I wonder if the reservoir will stay just fine without it.
For others: For me it was easiest to see looking from the top and rear of the reservoir. I also found it easiest to pull out from the rear side (versus the front) using small needle nose pliers. Bent needle nose pliers did not work well for me.

No need to reinstall the tube IMO. The reservoir will not fall off when the panels are in place.

When I did my first oil change, after letting the dealer do the break-in service, which was part of the purchase deal. I found the tab that holds the rubber sleeve was broken and it fell apart when I took it off.
It wasn't important enough to me to get into an argument with the dealer's service department about who was responsible, so I just used a semi-loose zip-tie to hold it fast. Although, not really needed I felt better about it.

I used a hemostat the first time to remove the short black piece of tubing that locks the reservoir in place. Then I dropped the little piece into the guts of the machine where it’ll never be seen again. No loss. I cut a 6” piece of 1/4” plastic tubing and pinched the end with a pliers to make it easier to insert. The longer piece can be installed and removed with no tools. Any hardware store will have the tubing.

Same thing here! Just cut a 6" piece of nylon air line and the end slides right in and leaves a nice long section to grab when removing the next time. If you leave it out, I suppose there could be a remote chance of hitting a bump and having the reservoir dislodge. But the 6" hose will eliminate any doubt.

Mine must have fell out when I pulled the reservoir because I don't find it. I just set it back in the bracket it seemed to be doing fine. I would like to put some sort of tube back on it but do not know how it goes on. In

There is a quarter inch void above the hanger clip that allows the reservoir to be raised up in order to release it from the clip. You should be able to see this void as you move the reservoir up and down on the clip bracket. If anything is inserted into this void when the reservoir is in place, it will simply prevent the reservoir from lifting up. They could have easily put in a longer piece of cheap hose instead of that tiny 1.5 inch long piece!

Maybe so but, at one time there should have been a small black tube at the top to hold it in. Beside with this thread being a couple of years old, I'm sure he has it by now.
