Mileage Question
I heard a fellow trike rider that they would never buy a Cam Am Spyder because nobody could tell him how long the bike would last. Example, i have heard that the Goldwing can be driven well over 200,000 miles. Taking care of it and doing all the maintenance on her of course. My question is, how many miles do people on this forum have on their Can Am F3’s?? I currently ride a 2018 F3T with 12,000 miles and I plan on getting more on her. Just wondering.

I haven’t heard of anyone with over 150k yet but Spyders haven’t been around all that long.I would think with the 1330 semi automatic 300k would be possible.

Rotax has a good name, in karting and other motorsports, and building motors for decades, and with the 1330, they build a solid platform, so I see ( with proper maintenance) no problems, to hit the 200000 or more km's/miles.
It's all in the wrist, and the oily bits
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it........

Sounds like they just don't want to buy a Spyder, because that's a pretty lousy reason.
One reason that nobody can tell him how long they will last is because they are still trying to find out. Already mentioned are a few that have over 150,000 miles, but the 1300 engine has only been in a Spyder for 7 years so far. That's just a bit over 20,000 miles per year, which is a bit above average in my area.
I knew a guy about 15 years ago that had a 1985 Goldwing 1200 that had 450,000 miles on it. Considering that it was about 20 years old at the time, that's about 25,000 miles per year.
Give the Spyder sometime, someone will get one to fail, but remember that the first of any event does not determine an average.
My own Goldwing is a 2000 and has 188,000 miles. However, it has not been ridden for the last 4 years.

As mentioned above...there are several 100K plus members out there.
The good side is, that there are not any threads that talk about the brand crashing and burning after 40K, 50K miles. Think about that if you own a GM car.
Both engines 990-998/two and 1330/three are very good. Tried and true. Given proper mechanical service...they should outlast your desires for driving that particular machine.
Given that most drivers put between 5K and 10K miles per year on their machines, and using 100K as a benchmark...that's 20 or 10 years of use just for 100K for the "average" driver.
I am on Spyder #7 now. Never put more than 45K on a machine..... but the last two were kept 9 years and 7 years each. Never had major warranty or mechanical repairs on ANY of the ones I have owned.
Warning, warning, warning...these are my results, and I know there are some out there that have not had great luck.

I believe that was a man who lived around Zanesville Ohio. For the life of me I can't remember his name. I hope he is still around.

Can-Am Spyders haven’t been around all that long, I've seen first spyder on the road in 2010. Spyder riders ride about 7K-10K Miles per year, I never met anyone who's ridden Spyder more than 100K.

With modern Alloys and machining precision/tolerances most vehicles today are, with properly maintained services, getting 300,000 miles and beyond as serviceable life spans.

Thanks for that info ..... I'm really bad with names **** ..... well 148,000 mi in FOUR years _ 37,000 mi. per year ....2018 to 2020 is Two years = 74,000mi. .... so he could have 222,000 mi. which 22,000 more the 200,000 mi. ..... you get the picture ...... Mike
